  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Hits bench Monday

Wade will sit Monday against the Rockies, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wade hits the bench against lefty Austin Gomber. Since his return from a knee injury Friday, he's started against two righties while sitting against a pair of southpaws. Mike Yastrzemski will shift to right field in his absence, with Mauricio Dubon starting in center.

  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: On bench against lefty

Rivas will sit Monday against the Padres, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Rivas hasn't started against a southpaw all season, a trend which will continue here against MacKenzie Gore. Frank Schwindel will get the start at first base.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Padres' Matt Beaty: Placed on 10-day IL

Beaty was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder impingement Monday, retroactive to May 8.

Beaty sustained a left shoulder injury on a diving attempt in the outfield Saturday and was held out of Sunday's lineup. After being diagnosed with a left shoulder impingement, he'll be forced to miss at least a week-plus. Trayce Thompson and Jose Azocar should see increased playing time in the outfield while Beaty and Wil Myers (thumb) are out.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Drives in pair

Abreu went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI on Sunday against the Red Sox.

Abreu swatted a two-RBI double in the third inning to put the White Sox up 3-0. He has at least one hit in nine of his last 10 games, also racking up six RBI and six runs scored in that span. While hits have fallen in, Abreu has only a .146 ISO through 109 plate appearances to begin the season -- a significant drop from his .219 mark in 2021.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | CIN

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Sits amid slump

Lowe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

With the Rangers concluding a busy weekend in New York with a day game after a doubleheader, Lowe will get a breather for the first time since April 10. Andy Ibanez will step in at first base for Lowe, who could probably benefit from a day to clear his head after going 3-for-37 with 16 strikeouts over his last 10 starts.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: First hit leaves yard

Wade went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cardinals.

Wade's first hit of the season was a second-inning homer off Cardinals starter Dakota Hudson. This was just the third game of the year (second start) for Wade, who began the season on the injured list with a knee injury that had kept him out of action since March 28. The 28-year-old has made both of his starts in right field, though manager Gabe Kapler is understandably being cautious with him after his month-long layoff. Expect Wade to be in the lineup against most right-handed pitchers, though he could settle into a bench role when opponents have a southpaw starting on the mound.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Strong showing in twin bill

Mountcastle went 5-for-9 with a double, two RBI, a stolen base and one run scored across both games of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Royals.

Mountcastle went 4-for-5 in the first game, then added his steal in the second. The 25-year-old lifted his slash line to .276/.303/.419 through 109 plate appearances this season. He's gone 9-for-17 across his last four contests as he continues to hit in the middle of the Orioles' order. The first baseman has four home runs, 14 RBI, 10 runs scored, three doubles and two stolen bases in 26 games.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Two big flies

Alonso went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in a 6-1 win Sunday during the second game of a doubleheader in Philadelphia.

Alonso reached safely in each of his first three plate appearances in the nightcap, hitting a two-run homer in the first, singling in the third and hitting a long three-run shot in the fifth. The Polar Bear has four multi-hit performances in his last six games, going 10-for-24 with five extra-base hits and raising his OPS from .710 to .833 in the process. With 26 RBI, he is setting the pace for the National League.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Struggles continue Sunday

Torkelson, who went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Sunday's loss to the Astros, has just three hits in his last 10 games.

In this cold stretch, Torkelson has gone just 3-for-32 with 14 strikeouts, and his season batting average has dipped to .167. The Tigers fell to 8-19 with Sunday's loss, so they'll likely keep playing the talented rookie regularly in what appears to be a rebuilding season. Fantasy managers may occasionally get some big games from Torkelson, but he's hard to trust at this point due to his inability to make consistent contact at the plate.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: 'Couple days away' from return

Manager David Bell said Sunday that Votto (illness) is still "a couple of days" away from returning from the COVID-19-related injured list, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Bell said the same is true for Nick Senzel, who remains away from the team along with Votto after both recently tested positive for the virus. Votto looks like he can safely be ruled out for Monday's series opener with the Brewers, which should pave the way for Colin Moran to pick up another start at first base following his career-best six-RBI performance in Sunday's 7-3 win over the PIrates.
