Dalbec is just 2-for-20 (.100) across his last seven games, but both of his hits in that span have landed beyond the fence. • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Returns to lineup

Wade (knee) is starting Friday's game against the Padres, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Still stuck on bench

Vaughn will sit for the third straight game Friday against Detroit.

Vaughn may be falling out of favor as the White Sox head into the postseason. He started five straight games after returning from a back injury last week, but he recorded just two hits over that stretch. He now finds himself on the bench for the third straight game, with Leury Garcia starting in right field.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

    Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Resting Friday

The Astros will rest several regulars the day after clinching the division. Aledmys Diaz takes over at first base.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Receives Friday off

Freeman is not in the lineup Friday against the Mets.

Freeman started the past 45 games and posted a .308/.376/.505 slash line with seven homers, 19 RBI and 38 runs during that stretch. and he'll head to the bench Friday for a well-deserved day off after Atlanta clinched the NL East division title Thursday. • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Back in lineup

Diaz (ribs) will bat cleanup and start at third base Friday against the Yankees, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Diaz left Tuesday's game against the Astros with left rib discomfort and received just a single pinch-hit appearance since then. He'll be involved from the start this time around and will occupy a key spot in the lineup against lefty Nestor Cortes.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Knocks four hits

Walker went 4-for-5 with a double and a run in a 5-4 loss to San Francisco on Thursday.

Walker singled in the fist inning, singled and scored in the fifth, doubled in the seventh and singled in the ninth for his second four-hit game of the season. The successful performance was long overdue as the 30-year-old was only 1-for-15 over his last six games. Walker is now slashing .254/.315/.388 in 21 September contests.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Logs pinch-hit appearance Thursday

Diaz (ribs) was hitless in one pinch-hit appearance during a loss to the Astros on Thursday. He's expected to rejoin the starting lineup Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz was forced from Tuesday's contest against Houston with left rib cage soreness, and although there were some concerns about the injury in the immediate aftermath, the infielder has made quick progress. If Diaz is indeed able to make it back for Friday's series opener against the Yankees, it should fully allay any concerns about his availability for the Rays' first postseason series.
