  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Back in lineup Saturday

Torres (groin) is starting at second base and batting seventh Saturday against Atlanta.

Torres left Thursday's game against the Orioles in the sixth inning due to tightness in his right groin. He was held out of Friday's game as a precaution and is back in the lineup Saturday. For the month of June, Torres is slashing .194/.268/.387 with three home runs and 12 RBI over 62 at-bats.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Homers in Friday's loss

Mateo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 14-11 loss to the Astros.

Mateo's long ball was one of three during the Orioles' seven-run eighth inning, but the deficit was too steep to overcome. The infielder has homered twice over nine games since he returned from a concussion, but he's batting a mere .192 (5-for-26) over that span. For the season, he's at a .236/.281/.443 slash line with five homers, 12 stolen bases, 18 RBI and 24 runs scored across 155 plate appearances. Mateo's playing time is not yet at risk, but Ramon Urias has had a strong June and could push for a larger role if he keeps it up.

  • Jorge Polanco 2B | NYM

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Swats two homers in rehab game

Polanco (hamstring) played a full game at second base in Triple-A Tacoma's win over Las Vegas on Friday, going 2-for-4 with two solo home runs and another RBI from a bases-loaded walk.

Polanco may have put the bow on a highly successful rehab assignment with Friday's performance. Not only were the offensive fireworks a welcome sight for a player who's struggled all season at the big-league level, but Polanco was also able to put in a full game on defense for the first time during his rehab stint. It would seem highly likely the Mariners will deem him ready for activation at this point, but they may opt to have Polanco finish out the weekend with the Rainiers before potentially meeting the club in Tampa Bay for the start of a three-game series against the Rays on Monday.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Snaps hitless run in big way

Semien went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Friday's 6-2 win over the Royals.

Semien provided the big hit of the game with a bases-clearing double in the sixth inning to give Texas a lead it would not relinquish. The double snapped a hitless run of 17 at-bats. Semien, the Rangers' leadoff hitter, leads the team with 43 RBI through 74 games.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Doubles twice in win

Altuve went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Orioles.

Altuve got hot early Friday; he singled and scored in the first inning before knocking an RBI double in the second. He capped off his day with another RBI double and another run scored during Houston's nine-run sixth inning. Altuve has caught fire after a lackluster May, producing a .995 OPS with 11 RBI over his last 12 games. His season slash line now sits at .301/.351/.460 with 27 extra-base hits and 45 runs scored.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Was available Friday

Manager Aaron Boone indicated after Friday's game that Torres (groin) was available off the bench, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Despite being available, Torres never entered the contest, leaving his status for Saturday's game in question. Jahmai Jones or Oswaldo Cabrera would likely enter the lineup if Torres remains on the bench.

  • Angels' Michael Stefanic: Late addition to Friday's lineup

Stefanic is starting at second base and batting eighth in Friday's game against the Dodgers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Stefanic was inserted into Friday's lineup after Brandon Drury was scratched due to an illness. Since being recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on June 8, Stefanic has played in seven major-league games, going 6-for-22 with four RBI.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Scratched Friday with illness

Drury was scratched from the Angels' lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Dodgers due to an illness, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

After being scratched from Wednesday's lineup, Drury was set to return to action Friday following the team's off day Thursday. His illness appears to have lingered, however. Michael Stefanic will start at second base and bat eighth against Dodgers right-hander Landon Knack, per Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Returns to lineup

Drury (illness) is batting sixth and playing second base Friday against the Dodgers.

Drury was a late scratch Wednesday due to illness but after a team day off Thursday, he's feeling good enough to play. The second baseman is 1-for-6 since returning from the IL on Monday and owns a .469 OPS on the year.

  • Blue Jays' Spencer Horwitz: Absent from lineup

Horwitz is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Cleveland.

After starting five straight games following his promotion, Horwitz has now been on the bench three times in the last seven contests, including twice against right-handers. Orelvis Martinez is getting the call at second base Friday.
