    It's a regular day of rest for Altuve, who has hit .279 with six homers and 17 RBI in his last 17 games. He's also walked more times (16) than he's struck out (11) in that span.

    Andrus went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in an extra-inning loss to the Red Sox on Friday.

    The veteran shortstop slugged his first round tripper since Sept. 11 of last season in the ninth inning, launching a 422-foot shot to center to knot the game at 2-2. Andrus has now hit safely in eight of his last 10 games, with Friday's blast serving as his third extra-base hit over that span.

    Blue Jays' Marcus Semien: Homers once again

    Semien went 2-for-5 with a home run, an additional RBI and two additional runs scored in Friday's win over the Rays.

    Semien made his presence felt in the seventh inning with a solo shot off reliever Jeffrey Springs -- his 21th long ball of the season -- and that extended his torrid streak, as the star shortstop has now gone deep in three of his last four games. He has racked up nine RBI over that span and also extended his hitting streak to nine contests.

    Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning win over Oakland.

    Hernandez made key plays in the field and at the plate in the 10th inning to secure Boston's eighth consecutive victory. In the top of the 10th, he plopped a broken-bat single over second base to plate Michael Chavis with the go-ahead run. Then, in the bottom half of the frame, he initiated a double-play, catching Sean Murphy's flyball and throwing out Seth Brown at home. Hernandez has hit safely in five of the last six games, posting a .364 (8-for-22) average with three home runs, six RBI and four runs scored during that span.

    Astros' Jose Altuve: Records fourth steal

    Altuve went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 6-3 win over Cleveland.

    Altuve hit an infield single in the third inning, advanced to second on a groundout and then stole third before coming home on a Carlos Correa double. The steal was just Altuve's fourth in five attempts this year. The second baseman is slashing .286/.374/.505 with 18 home runs, 47 RBI and 61 runs scored across 337 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Monday activation possible

    Arroyo (knee) will play rehab games with Triple-A Worcester on Friday and Saturday and could join the Red Sox in Anaheim on Monday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

    Recent updates have suggested that Arroyo has fully recovered from his right knee bruise, and that he just requires some rehab at-bats before rejoining the big-league club. If not Monday, the 26-year-old's return will likely occur sometime early next week.

    Castro is starting at shortstop and batting seventh in Friday's game against the White Sox.

    Zack Short started both games of the doubleheader Wednesday the last time the Tigers took the field, but he'll retreat to the bench Friday and give way to Castro. The latter is slashing .262/.320/.305 this season with a home run and 17 RBI in 46 games this season.

    Short started at shortstop during both games of Wednesday's doubleheader against Cleveland, but he'll begin Friday's game on the bench. Harold Castro will start at shortstop and bat seventh.

    Altuve went 1-for-3 with two walks and a grand slam in Thursday's 7-2 win over Cleveland.

    With Houston trailing 2-1 in the fifth inning, Altuve connected for a grand slam off J.C. Mejia to give the Astros a lead they would not relinquish. It was his second granny of the season.

    Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Thursday against the Royals.

    Hernandez led off the bottom of the first inning with his ninth home run of the season -- his third leadoff homer in five games. That was his lone hit of the contest, though he entered Thursday's game with multiple hits in three of his last four starts -- scoring one run on each occasion. Across 273 plate appearances this season, Hernandez is hitting .237/.304/.424 with 38 runs scored and 25 RBI.
