Altuve went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Thursday's win against the Yankees.

Altuve entered the game having gone just 3-for-32 across eight games since his last multi-hit effort. He turned that around Thursday, smacking a clutch three-run homer in the eighth inning to give the Astros a 5-3 lead. It was his second long ball of the season, and he's also tallied 12 RBI and 14 runs while hitting .256/.295/.372 across 95 plate appearances.

Castro went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox.

Making the start at second base, Castro recorded his second three-hit performance of the season. The 27-year-old is more of a utility player off the bench at this point, though Detroit is in need of all the offensive production it can muster, so Castro could earn more playing time if he gets hot at the plate.

Lowe isn't starting Thursday's game against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe had gone 2-for-14 with a three-run home run, a walk and seven strikeouts in the last three games, and he'll take a seat with left-hander Andrew Heaney starting for the Angels. Mike Brosseau will take over at second base and bat fifth.

Hernandez left Thursday's game against the Tigers with right hamstring tightness, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Hernandez appeared to tweak something after hitting a double. Franchy Cordero pinch ran for him. It's not yet clear how much time Hernandez is expected to miss.

Gimenez will hit the bench against lefty Danny Duffy and the Royals on Thursday.

Gimenez has now been on the bench against eight of the last 10 lefties that Cleveland has faced. Even with that protection from same-sided pitching, he's having a very tough time at the plate, hitting just .176/.222/.324 with a 31.5 percent strikeout rate. Amed Rosario, who's hitting just .188/.253/.313 himself, will start at shortstop in his absence.

Edwards is opening the year on the 7-day injured list with Double-A Montgomery due to an oblique injury, Sam Dykstra of MLB.com reports.

He suffered the injury in minor-league camp, but the Rays don't think the injury is serious. Edwards is expected back sometime this month.

Polanco isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Polanco had gone 0-for-7 with a walk and six strikeouts in the last two games. Nick Gordon will make his major-league debut at second base and bat seventh.

Ibanez started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Twins.

The 28-year-old, Cuban-born Ibanez had his contract selected this week and made his MLB debut Tuesday, when he delivered a pinch-hit single. The Rangers have always liked his ability to hit, according to Sam Blum of the Dallas Morning News, but his defense has been a hindrance to regular playing time at the major-league level. Manager Chris Woodward believes he's put in the work to improve as a fielder. With Brock Holt (hamstring) sidelined, Ibanez will get an opportunity to play third base.

Altuve went 1-for-4 with a single in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Yankees.

Altuve's leadoff single in the first inning snapped a hitless streak of 10 at-bats, but the second baseman had been scuffling prior to that stretch. He has just two hits over his last 29 at-bats, which has dropped his season average to .247.

Brujan went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run in a win over Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

While teammate Wander Franco has stolen the headlines over the Bulls' first two games of the season, Brujan -- a highly regarded prospect in his own right -- has gotten off to just as hot a start. Wednesday's production pushed Brujan's tally at the plate to 4-for-8 over his first two games, and early indications are that he's capable of thriving against a higher caliber of arms after finishing his last minor-league campaign at Double-A Montgomery back in 2019.
