  • Ernie Clement 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Pops game-winning homer

Clement went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Astros.

The All-Star second baseman took Bennett Sousa deep in the top of the 10th inning to break a 3-3 tie. It was Clement's first long ball since the All-Star break, snapping an 18-game drought, and on the season he's produced a .285/.310/.415 slash line with nine homers, four steals, 38 RBI and 48 runs in 112 contests.

  • Luke Keaschall 2B | MIN

Twins' Luke Keaschall: Moving to bench Wednesday

Keaschall is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Keaschall will get the evening off after he made starts in each of the Twins' last eight games while going 8-for-27 (.296 average) with two home runs and four RBI. Minnesota will roll out a starting outfield of Trevor Larnach, Kody Clemens and Austin Martin from left to right.

  • Red Sox's Anthony Seigler: Ceding playing time to Sogard

Seigler is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Seigler looked as though he would settle back into a regular role at second base after Curtis Mead fractured his wrist in his team debut July 27, but the Red Sox have instead prioritized Nick Sogard ahead of him. Sogard will make a third consecutive start at the keystone Wednesday, with Seigler having been left out of the lineup for each of those contests. Seigler hasn't helped his case for playing time by going just 1-for-20 at the plate over his last eight contests.

  • Nick Sogard 2B | BOS

Red Sox's Nick Sogard: Settling in at second base

Sogard will start at second base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

After Curtis Mead fractured his left wrist in his team debut July 27, Sogard has emerged as the Red Sox's preferred option at the keystone. Sogard will draw his fifth consecutive start and has received the nod at second base over Anthony Seigler in four of those games. The 28-year-old also appears to be gaining traction as the Red Sox's table setter, with Sogard earning the appointment atop the lineup by getting on base at a .417 clip since he was called up from Triple-A Worcester a week ago.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Filling in for injured Kurtz at 1B

McNeil will start at first base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Reds.

McNeil will be included in the lineup for a third straight game and appears to have reclaimed a regular starting role against right-handed pitching in the wake of Nick Kurtz's (thumb) move to the injured list. The 34-year-old has been dialed in at the dish since the All-Star break, slashing .413/.438/.522 with one home run, two steals, nine RBI and six runs in 15 games.

  • Rays' Ben Williamson: Exits with injury

Williamson was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rockies due to a hamstring injury, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

Williamson seemingly injured himself while running to first base in the ninth inning and had to be helped down the steps into the dugout. The Rays will take a closer look at him and should provide more information on his status ahead of Friday's series opener in Seattle.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Three hits in win

Altuve went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jays.

It's the third straight multi-hit game for Altuve, who's gone 7-for-13 in that span, though all seven hits have been singles. Altuve has gone 13 contests without an extra-base hit -- he's batting .278 (15-for-54) in that span, albeit with a .581 OPS. Overall, Altuve is slashing .241/.304/.389 through 386 plate appearances this season with 12 homers, 33 RBI, 53 runs scored and two steals.

  • Zach McKinstry 2B | DET

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Gets aboard four times in win

McKinstry went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners.

This was McKinstry's fourth multi-hit effort over his last 12 games. The utility man has taken over as the Tigers' preferred right fielder versus right-handed pitchers since the team lost Kerry Carpenter (foot) and Matt Vierling (groin) to the injured list. In a utility role this year, McKinstry is batting .219 with a .624 OPS, four home runs, 23 RBI, 28 runs scored, 12 doubles, three triples and one stolen base on six attempts.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Launches homer in win

Torres went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners.

Torres has been good to start August, going 4-for-12 with two homers, six RBI and four walks over his last three games. The second baseman has hit .224 (11-for-49) over 13 games since he returned from a month-long absence due to an oblique strain. For the year, Torres is batting .267 with a .794 OPS, seven homers, 29 RBI, 36 runs scored, eight doubles and no stolen bases over 56 contests.

  • Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Blasts solo homer Tuesday

Chisholm went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 2-0 win over St. Louis.

Tuesday's game was a low-scoring affair, and Chisholm's solo long ball in the second inning turned out to be the game-winning run for the Yankees. It was the 17th long ball of the season for Chisholm and his first since his two-homer effort against the Pirates on July 20. He has a .695 OPS with 30 steals and 46 RBI over 420 plate appearances this season.
