  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Marlins' Luis Arraez: Held out Sunday

Arraez (ankle) isn't in the Marlins' lineup Sunday against Milwaukee, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Arraez re-injured his left ankle during Saturday's win over Milwaukee and said before Sunday's game that he "can't do anything right now." He will get an extra day of rest during Miami's day off Monday, but for now there's no telling when he'll be able to return. Xavier Edwards will start at second base and bat ninth while Arraez is out.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Reaches base four times in win

Hoerner went 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBI and one run scored in Saturday's victory over the Rockies.

Hoerner has now hit safely in 15 of the last 17 contests, batting .358 with 12 runs, six RBI and six steals across 67 at-bats during that stretch. Despite a 37-game homer drought, the 26-year-old has found myriad other ways to contribute down the stretch, stealing 13 bases during that same span and extending his streak of plate appearances without a strikeout to 34.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Marlins' Luis Arraez: Suffers apparent leg injury

Arraez was removed from Saturday's win over the Brewers with an apparent leg injury, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Arraez slipped on the dugout steps when the lights were turned off at loanDepot park for Tanner Scott's entrance in the top of the ninth inning. Garrett Hampson took over at second base for the final frame as Joey Wendle entered to play shortstop. Arraez, the MLB batting average leader at .353, just returned Friday from a two-game absence for a left ankle sprain and could now need more time off in the heat of the Marlins' NL wild-card hunt.

  • Jose Fermin 2B | STL

    Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Sitting Saturday

Fermin isn't in the Cardinals' lineup Saturday against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Fermin has gone 3-for-10 with a walk since assuming a starter role with Nolan Arenado (back) on the injured list. He'll get a breather Saturday as Irving Lopez starts at third base and bats eighth.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Hits bench versus lefty

Turang isn't in the Brewers' lineup Saturday against Miami.

Lefty Jesus Luzardo will start on the bump for the Marlins on Saturday, so the left-handed bat of Turang will stay put in the Brewers' dugout. Andruw Monasterio will fill in at second base and bat eighth while Turang sits.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Sitting against lefty

Stott isn't in the Phillies' lineup Saturday against the Mets.

Left-hander Jose Quintana will start on the mound for New York, so the lefty-hitting Stott will retreat to the bench for the beginning of the game. Rodolfo Castro will start at the keystone and bat ninth.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Goes yard in win

Estrada went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-1 win over the Dodgers.

Despite the Giants' recent struggles on offense, Estrada has gone 22-for-78 (.282) with three homers, seven RBI and three stolen bases over 20 games in September, and the second baseman padded the lead with a sixth-inning solo shot Friday. He's up to 13 long balls, 48 RBI, 62 runs scored, 22 stolen bases and a .276/.320/.425 slash line through 112 contests this season.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Hits double in return

Kim (abdomen) went 1-for-4 with a double in Friday's 4-2 win over the Cardinals.

Kim had missed four games with abdominal discomfort. The infielder has had a rough September, going 10-for-58 (.172) over 15 contests. His struggles have caused his season slash line to sag to .265/.356/.408 with 17 home runs, 36 stolen bases, 58 RBI, 81 runs scored and 21 doubles through 144 games.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Returns to lineup Friday

Kim (abdomen) is back in the lineup Friday against the Cardinals.

Kim will start at second base and bat sixth versus the Cardinals and right-hander Dakota Hudson after missing four straight games due to abdominal discomfort. The 27-year-old has tallied 17 home runs and 36 stolen bases through 143 games (583 plate appearances) this season with San Diego.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Marlins' Luis Arraez: Back in lineup Friday

Arraez (ankle) is starting at second base and batting leadoff Friday versus the Brewers in his return to the lineup.

He missed the last two games with a sprained left ankle but is feeling well enough to give it a go following the Marlins' off day Thursday. Arraez and his teammates will be tasked with solving Corbin Burnes on Friday.
