  • Rockies' Harold Castro: Out against lefty

Castro is not in Saturday's lineup against the Phillies.

With lefty Ranger Suarez on the hill for Philadelphia, Castro will start the game on the bench. Alan Trejo will start at second base and hit eighth.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Remains on bench

Donovan will sit Saturday against the Red Sox, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Chris Sale is the third consecutive lefty the Cardinals have faced, and Donovan has sat against each of them. He's started just once against a southpaw all season and hasn't done so in over a month.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Sits against southpaw

Gorman will hit the bench against lefty Chris Sale and the Red Sox on Saturday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Gorman sits for the third consecutive game as the Cardinals face their third consecutive lefty. Willson Contreras is expected to move back behind the plate Monday and stop clogging the designated hitter spot, which should benefit Gorman, though the Cardinals are still unlikely to use the second-year slugger much against southpaws.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Swipes second bag

Garcia went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mets.

The 22-year-old isn't known for his speed, but he swiped his second bag of the year as the Nationals put pressure on Mets rookie catcher Francisco Alvarez in a low-scoring game. Garcia is enjoying a strong start to May, slashing .326/.396/.465 through 11 games, but a lack of power -- both on his own part and in the lineup around him -- limits his fantasy ceiling even when he's on a roll at the plate.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers off bench

Gorman hit a two-run home run as a pinch hitter in Friday's 8-6 win over the Red Sox.

Gorman's ninth-inning blast off Kenley Jansen provided the Cardinals with their margin of victory. With St. Louis using Willson Contreras as the full-time designated hitter, Gorman has slipped into a strong-side platoon role, primarily playing at second base and occasionally at third. He can still provide some pop off the bench, as evidenced Friday. The 23-year-old is slashing .261/.352/.550 with nine homers, 26 RBI, 12 runs scored and three stolen bases through 128 plate appearances.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

Brewers' Owen Miller: Strong showing in Friday's win

Miller went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Friday's 5-1 win over the Royals.

Miller was a triple shy of the cycle, though he has just one three-bagger in his career. He's hit safely in his last five games, going 8-for-18 (.444) over that span. His homer was his first of the year, and he's added six RBI, three stolen bases and nine runs scored while slashing .323/.348/.435 through 62 plate appearances. He's starting to get a look at leadoff versus southpaws, but he's still in a fairly strict platoon role at second base, with Brice Turang facing most righties.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Not starting Friday

Rojas is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Giants.

Rojas will probably appear off the bench at some point as the Giants go with a bullpen game to help ease southpaw Alex Wood back into action. Emmanuel Rivera is starting at third base and batting second to kick things off for the host Diamondbacks.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Not in Friday's lineup

Stott is not in the Phillies' lineup for Friday's game in Colorado.

Stott will take a seat against left-handed Austin Gomber. Josh Harrison is handling second base.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Placed on 10-day IL

The Cubs placed Hoerner on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 9, with a left hamstring strain, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Hoerner suffered the injury while running the bases in Monday's series opener against the Cardinals and will be sidelined for at least another week. Christopher Morel is covering second base and batting leadoff Friday against the Twins and right-hander Sonny Gray. Nick Madrigal should also get regular looks at the position in Hoerner's absence.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

Brewers' Owen Miller: Another look at leadoff

Miller is getting a second straight start out of the leadoff spot Friday versus the Royals.

Both leadoff looks have come against left-handed pitching -- Wednesday against Clayton Kershaw and Friday against Josh Taylor. Miller has batted .370/.400/.407 through 30 plate appearances this year off southpaws. He's slashing .226/.250/.290 in 32 plate appearances versus righties.
