Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Sits against lefty

Lux is not starting Tuesday's game against the Padres, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Lux, who has hit just .158 in 57 at-bats against lefties this season, gets the night off as the Dodgers face southpaw Blake Snell. The infielder has hit .281 with a home run and six RBI in his last nine games. Chris Taylor fills in at shortstop Tuesday while Max Muncy plays second base in his first game off the injured list.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: X-rays on finger come back negative

Kim, who exited Monday's 6-2 win over the Dodgers, underwent X-rays on the injured finger on his right hand that returned negative, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Kim started at second base and went 0-for-2 with a walk before he was lifted in the top of the seventh inning after hurting his finger when it was hit by a grounder. The rookie appears to have avoided a significant injury, with manager Jayce Tingler terming him as day-to-day. Kim is expected to fill a short-side platoon role for the Padres moving forward now that the team is back to full strength in the infield with Fernando Tatis (shoulder) returning from a one-game absence to start Monday.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: On base four times Monday

India went 3-for-5 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 7-5 extra-innings loss to the Twins.

While he did a great job getting on base at the top of the Reds' order, India had trouble staying there -- he got picked off first base in the seventh inning after a leadoff hit, then was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double in the ninth, baserunning errors which might have cost his team a win in regulation. The 24-year-old rookie still has four multi-hit performances in his last eight games, slashing .355/.474/.484 over that stretch with a homer, two steals, three RBI and four runs.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Moves to leadoff

Marte batted leadoff and went 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 5-1 win over Milwaukee.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo deployed Marte atop the order for the first time since May 25, and the move paid off for the Diamondbacks, who snapped a 17-game losing streak. It was the fourth time hitting leadoff this season for Marte, who is typically slotted in the two hole. He's recorded hits in six straight games, going 11-for-25 with four doubles and seven RBI during the streak.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Appears to suffer hand injury

Kim exited Monday's game against the Dodgers in the seventh inning after appearing to hurt his throwing hand while fielding a grounder to end the sixth inning, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Eric Hosmer remained in the game at first base after pinch-hitting for Yu Darvish as Jake Cronenworth shifted to second base.

Kim appeared to be bothered by his throwing hand after fielding a hard grounder off the bat of Will Smith to end the sixth inning. While the Padres have not officially labeled his departure as an injury, it seems unlikely that his exit was simply a strategical decision with the Padres leading 6-1 in the seventh inning. Further update should be given on Kim following the game.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Mets' Luis Guillorme: On bench for Game 1 of twin bill

Guillorme is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with Atlanta.

The lefty-hitting Guillorme will be on the bench for a second straight game after he was out of the lineup during Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Nationals while southpaw Patrick Corbin took the hill for Washington. Though Jeff McNeil (hamstring) won't start in Game 1, he was reinstated from the injured list Monday and is expected to take hold of an everyday job in the infield. Guillorme will likely shift into a utility role as a result.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Returns from injured list

Manager Luis Rojas said that McNeil (hamstring) was activated from the injured list Monday, as expected, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

McNeil wound up missing over a month with a hamstring strain. He'd been having a down season prior to the injury, hitting just .242/.336/.374 in 32 games, though he'd been starting to turn things around right before he got hurt, posting an .850 OPS over his last 11 games. He should be an everyday player going forward, though he won't be asked to start two games in one day immediately upon his return. He'll be on the bench for the first half of Monday's doubleheader against Atlanta, but he should be in the lineup for the nightcap.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Swipes bag Sunday

Albies went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in a 9-1 loss to St. Louis in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader.

Albies hit a single in the fourth inning, then stole second. His dart to the keystone bought Freddie Freeman enough time to steal home for Atlanta's lone run in the loss. Albies is up to a .255/.323/.490 slash line with 10 home runs, seven steals, 43 RBI and 40 runs scored through 288 plate appearances.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Pair of doubles

Marte went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs, two RBI and a walk in Sunday's 9-8 loss to the Dodgers.

Marte doubled and scored in both the fourth and sixth innings and came up twice in the eighth, walking and recording a two-RBI single. This was his fifth straight game with a hit. Although he has only four home runs, Marte's batting a robust .357 with a .404 on-base percentage.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Could head to minors next week

The Cubs are hopeful that Hoerner (hamstring) will be ready to begin a minor-league rehab assignment in 7-to-10 days, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Hoerner has been able to complete full pregame workouts in recent days, leaving the Cubs optimistic about where he stands in his recovery from a strained left hamstring. He'll continue to build up during the current week before the Cubs map out a schedule of minor-league games for him to play. The 24-year-old would appear to have an outside chance of making it back from the 10-day injured list before the end of the month, but an early July return appears more realistic.
