  • Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Reinstated from IL

The Giants reinstated Fitzgerald (ribs) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Fitzgerald landed on the 10-day IL in early May due to a left rib fracture. He went 3-for-10 with three RBI across three rehab outings with Triple-A Sacramento, and he's progressed enough in his recovery to return from the IL. He'll start at second base and bat ninth against the Athletics on Friday in his return, per Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News.

  • Tyler Freeman 3B | COL

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Returns from IL

The Rockies reinstated Freeman (oblique) from the injured list Friday.

Freeman has been sidelined for the past month by a left oblique strain, but he's been given the green light to return to Colorado after going 2-for-12 with two walks during a four-game rehab assignment. Now healthy, Freeman will likely slide in as bench depth for the Rockies.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Back in Friday's lineup

Marte (hip) is starting at second base and batting in the leadoff spot against the Rockies on Friday.

Marte was lifted from Wednesday's win against the Giants due to stiffness in his hip, but the 31-year-old second baseman has been cleared to play in Friday's series opener. Marte is slashing .262/.377/.554 with five home runs and eight RBI over 77 plate appearances this season.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Not in Friday's lineup

Garcia is not in the Nationals' starting lineup against the Orioles on Friday.

Garcia was activated from the Nationals' paternity list Friday, but he'll begin the game in the dugout while Nasim Nunez starts at second base and bats ninth. Garcia has gone 7-for-38 with two steals, one home run and five RBI since the beginning of May.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Back from paternity leave

The Nationals activated Garcia (personal) from the paternity list Friday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Garcia missed the three-game series in Atlanta earlier this week while welcoming a new addition to the family but is ready to go for the weekend set in Baltimore. The second baseman has a .618 OPS with three homers and six stolen bases this season for the Nationals.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Close to being activated

Manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Edman (ankle) is close to returning from the 10-day injured list, DodgersBeat.com reports.

Roberts didn't offer up a specific return date, but it appears Edman could be activated this weekend versus the Angels or early next week against the Diamondbacks. The 30-year-old suffered an ankle injury in late April and is poised to rejoin the Dodgers without embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment. Hyeseong Kim has taken advantage of Edman's absence with a 1.038 OPS in his first 12 big-league contests, but the veteran utility player shouldn't have an issue maintaining a regular spot in the lineup after posting a .252/.295/.523 slash line with eight homers, two steals, 24 RBI and 19 runs in his first 30 games this year.

  • Hye Seong Kim 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Hyeseong Kim: On base five times in win

Kim went 3-for-3 with a double, two walks, two RBI, one stolen base and four runs scored in Thursday's 19-2 win over the Athletics.

From the No. 9 hole, Kim was able to have another strong performance, earning his first three-hit game in the majors. He also drew his first two walks in the contest. Kim is now batting .429 with a home run, five RBI, nine runs scored and three steals across 30 plate appearances to begin his big-league career. He's seeing time at second base and in center field against right-handed pitchers, though he could soon take on a reduced role with Tommy Edman (ankle) nearing his return from the IL.

  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Goes yard in win

McLain went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored during Thursday's 7-1 win over the White Sox.

McLain got off to a slow start to 2025, slashing .160/.282/.290 across his first 100 at-bats spanning 28 games, but the 25-year-old seems to be turning a corner. In nine games since, McLain is 8-for-32 (.250) with a pair of home runs, six runs scored and four stolen bases. He's up to six homers on the season.

  • Hye Seong Kim 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Hyeseong Kim: Swats first career homer

Kim went 2-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-3 win over the Athletics.

Kim's first major-league long ball was a 385-foot solo shot in the fifth inning that tied the score. Since he was called up from the minors May 3, the rookie infielder has recorded three multi-hit games and is batting a robust .360 (9-for-25). The homer Wednesday was Kim's first extra-base hit, but he's also contributed a pair of stolen bases, five runs and three RBI.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Removed with lower-body stiffness

Marte was removed from Wednesday's 8-7 win over the Giants due to stiffness in his hip, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. The removal was preventative, and both the player and manager Torey Lovullo expect Marte to be in the lineup Friday following Thursday's off-day.

Marte moved around the bases pretty easily on a pair of home runs early in the game but was eventually removed from the game in the seventh inning. This was the first time he played a day game following a night game since returning from a hamstring injury. He was replaced by Jordan Lawlar. Marte is still in a phase where his playing time is being managed, meaning there are planned days off.
