Taylor Motter 2B | STL
Reds' Taylor Motter: Joins big club
Motter had his contract selected by the Reds on Friday.
The 32-year-old will fill a role on the bench this weekend in Toronto with the Reds missing multiple players who cannot travel to Canada. Motter has a .245/.344/.566 slash line in 15 games at Triple-A Louisville this season and is unlikely to be a significant factor during his time in the majors.

Brandon Drury 2B | KC
Reds' Brandon Drury: Moves to restricted list
Drury (undisclosed) was placed on the restricted list ahead of Friday's series opener at Toronto.
Players need to be vaccinated in order to enter Canada, so the news likely means Drury is unvaccinated and cannot enter the country. He should be available again when the Reds return home Monday to face the Cubs. Matt Reynolds and Alejo Lopez could see more playing time during his absence this weekend.

Nolan Gorman 3B | STL
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Batting sixth in debut
Gorman will start at second base and bat sixth Friday against the Pirates, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
The 22-year-old had his contract selected by the Cardinals following Thursday's loss to the Mets, and he'll man the keystone Friday in his big-league debut, as expected. Gorman will start out in the middle of the order, and he should operate as St. Louis' primary second baseman for the foreseeable future with even a decent showing early on. He dominated at Triple-A Memphis in 34 games this season with 15 home runs and a .308/.367/.677 slash line, although that came with a 34.0 percent strikeout rate.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Not starting Friday
Marte is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.
Marte returned to the lineup Thursday after missing two games with a sore hand, and he'll head back to the bench for Friday's matchup with Chicago, though there's been no indication he aggravated the injury. Yonny Hernandez will man second base in his place.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Racks up four more hits
Altuve went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored Thursday against the Rangers.
Altuve has eight extra-base hits in his last eight games, and he's maintained a .355 average with 10 RBI and 16 runs scored across 16 games in May. For the season, he owns a .286/.364/.571 line across 110 plate appearances.

Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU
Mets' Luis Guillorme: Swipes first bag of season
Guillorme went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and his first stolen base of the year in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Cardinals.
Getting the start at second base and hitting eighth, Guillorme put together a productive night. The 27-year-old utility player has begun to see more consistent action thanks to a hot streak that has seen him slash .323/.382/.484 through 34 plate appearances in May with a homer, a steal, three runs and three RBI.

Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Mets' Jeff McNeil: Drives in three Thursday
McNeil went 1-for-4 with three RBI in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Cardinals.
He brought home one run with a fielder's choice in the first inning before driving in two more with a single in the fifth. McNeil has a six-game RBI streak going, and over his last 10 contests he's batting .289 (11-for-38) with 11 RBI.

Marcus Semien 2B | NYM
Rangers' Marcus Semien: Pilfers bag in loss
Semien went 1-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Astros.
The stolen base was Semien's third of the season and first in 28 contests. The second baseman and leadoff batter had his fourth hit in the last two games, but he's still batting just .175 with eight RBI through 36 games. For the optimists, Semien is batting .200 during the month of May, up from a .157 April.
-
Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Extends on-base streak
Rojas went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Cubs.
Rojas' single in the fourth inning knocked in the winning run while also extending his on-base streak 13 games, every one since being activated off the injured list May 6. He later walked and stole his third base of the season. With Nick Ahmed (undisclosed) sidelined, there hasn't been a need for manager Torey Lovullo to juggle three infielders -- Rojas, Ahmed and Geraldo Perdomo -- among shortstop and third base.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Returns to lineup
Marte went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Cubs.
Marte was hampered by a sore left hand since Tuesday and missed a pair of games because of it. He was back to normal Thursday, starting at second base and hitting third in the order.
