Altuve is day-to-day with a left leg contusion, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Altuve left Tuesday's exhibition game against the Royals following a collision at home plate, but it appears as though he escaped without serious injury. Whether or not he'll miss any time at the start of the season is not yet clear.

Altuve was involved in an awkward collision at home plate and limped off the field under his own power after it occurred. The nature and severity of his injury are unclear, and whether the issue impacts his availability for Opening Day against the Mariners on Friday remains to be seen.

Lux was optioned by the Dodgers on Tuesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

In somewhat of a surprising move, the highly talented young infielder won't be part of the Dodgers' Opening Day roster. The 22-year-old didn't do a ton in his 23-game debut last season, hitting a modest .240/.305/.400, but he slashed an incredible .392/.478/.719 in 49 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. It's likely that this move was made primarily because Lux wasn't able to report to camp until July 10 for undisclosed reasons. There's still a good chance he fills a major role for the Dodgers this season once he's in game shape.

Haggerty left Monday's intrasquad game after his first at-bat with hip soreness, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Manager Scott Servais said that the injury is nothing serious. Haggerty remains a likely candidate to make the Mariners' Opening Day roster over fellow utility options Jose Marmolejos and Dylan Moore. The 26-yera-old has just four major-league at-bats and was claimed off waivers by Seattle this offseason.

Lux isn't in the lineup for Monday's exhibition game against the Diamondbacks.

Lux arrived late to camp but was able to participate in intrasquad action following his arrival. However, he hasn't been in the starting lineup for either of the team's two exhibition games ahead of Opening Day on Thursday. It's unclear whether his early absence is preventing his availability, but he may not be the starting second baseman to begin the season, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. Chris Taylor started at second base Monday while Enrique Hernandez started at the keystone Sunday.

Haggerty is projected to make the Mariners' Opening Day roster over fellow utility options Jose Marmolejos and Dylan Moore, according to Corey Brock of The Athletic.

In his stab at predicting which 30 players will make manager Scott Servais' Opening Day cut, Brock cites Haggerty's strong summer camp and defensive versatility as his edge over Marmolejos specifically, not to mention the fact the former is also on the 40-man roster while the latter isn't. Moreover, while it's difficult to find a player as versatile as Moore -- who has played every non-pitching position except catcher -- Haggerty comes very close, having logged at least one game at every spot except first base and backstop in his own right. In addition to his impressive showing in summer camp, Haggerty also has a strong Cactus League body of work to fall back on, as he hit .357 across eight exhibitions before spring training was suspended.

Manager Charlie Montoyo said Drury (undisclosed) could meet up with the team for exhibition games in Boston on Tuesday and Wednesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The 27-year-old has been on the injured list for undisclosed reasons since the start of summer camp, though he's continued participating in some baseball activities at the team facility in Florida. Drury is expected to work in a utility role this season, but his availability for Opening Day won't be determined until later in the week.

Chicago manager David Ross confirmed that Hoerner and Jason Kipnis will be the team's primary options at second base this year, with David Bote serving in a utility role, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

No real surprise here, as the righty Hoerner and the lefty Kipnis complement each other well in a platoon, and Bote has the versatility to work at second while also spelling Kris Bryant at third. While Kipnis appears to have the strong side of this platoon, the younger Hoerner could take the job and run with it if he performs well to start the season. He slashed .282/.305/.436 in a 20-game stint in the majors last year.

Rodgers is expected to begin the season on the major-league roster and should see occasional starts at second base, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old's availability for the original Opening Day was in doubt as he continued his recovery from the shoulder surgery he underwent last June, but Rodgers completed his rehab and will be available for the start of the shortened season. The starting jobs in the middle infield are locked up by Trevor Story and Ryan McMahon, but Rodgers could still see some starts at second base when McMahon covers first base in place of Daniel Murphy. However, Garrett Hampson and Chris Owings will also be competing for those opportunities.

Rengifo (undisclosed) is dealing with hamstring tightness, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

The 23-year-old reported to the team facility this week after missing the start of camp for undisclosed reasons, and he's experiencing some hamstring issues after his first couple days of workouts. Rengifo is on the injured list, and his Opening Day availability remains in question due to his delayed arrival and the injury.
