    Braves' Ozzie Albies: Has begun hitting off tee

    Albies (wrist) has begun doing some baseball activities, including light hitting off a tee, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

    Albies has been on the shelf since late July after fracturing his left wrist, and he's finally been cleared to swing, albeit lightly. The second baseman will likely require a rehab assignment prior to being activated and isn't expected to join Atlanta until mid-September.

    Baldwin looks to have fallen out of a regular job, as he's been out of the lineup now for three straight games and four times over the last six contests. Jacob Amaya is at shortstop and Nicky Lopez is at second base for the White Sox in the series opener.

    Royals' Nick Loftin: Joining big-league club

    The Royals recalled Loftin from Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

    Loftin will replace Vinnie Pasquantino (thumb) on the active roster as Pasquantino heads to the injured list. Loftin has been with Omaha since July 30 and has slashed .199/.294/.248 with Kansas City this season, although he has a .358/.436/.494 line at Triple-A in August. The 25-year-old might see plenty of work at first base, though the Royals should also give Salvador Perez opportunities at the position.

    Keith is on the bench for Friday's game against Boston.

    After going 0-for-10 during Detroit's three-game set with the Angels, Keith will get Friday off to clear his head. In his place, Zach McKinstry will play second base and bat seventh.

    Garcia is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

    With lefty Shota Imanaga on the mound for Chicago, Garcia will give way to Ildemaro Vargas at second base. Garcia is 29-for-84 (.345) with four home runs and six stolen bases in August.

    Lowe is out of the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego.

    The lefty-hitting Lowe will dodge a matchup with southpaw Martin Perez on Saturday, In Lowe's place, Jose Caballero will play second base while Taylor Walls slots in at shortstop.

    Iglesias went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks.

    The veteran infielder came up big when it mattered, bringing home Tyrone Taylor with a single up the middle in the top of the ninth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Iglesias continues to get consistent playing time at second base while occasionally filling in at third base, and through 65 plate appearances in August he's slashing .276/.338/.328 with two steals, five runs and five RBI.

    Lopez went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Rockies.

    The Marlins took advantage of their last game in Coors Field for the season with an 18-hit, 12-run barrage, and Lopez carved out his share of the production. The 25-year-old infielder has hit safely in five straight games and 12 of the last 13, slashing .362/.444/.532 over the latter stretch with six doubles, a triple, two steals, five runs and seven RBI.
