Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Sitting out with ankle sprain
Marte (ankle) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Rockies, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Marte aggravated a low-grade left ankle sprain in Monday's 5-4 win and will now miss out on a second straight start against Colorado. He is expected to avoid the injured list, and with a team off day coming Thursday, it's possible Marte will be ready to play this weekend at Tampa Bay. Blaze Alexander was called up from Triple-A Reno and will start at second base Wednesday as the Diamondbacks look to complete a sweep.

Michael Massey 2B | KC
Royals' Michael Massey: Sitting for series finale
Massey is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Though Massey has produced multiple hits in three of his last six starts, the Royals will hold him out of the lineup for the series finale, even while Minnesota sends a right-hander (Louie Varland) to the hill. With Massey on the bench, the Royals will go with Adam Frazier at second base and in the leadoff spot.

Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL
Giants' Thairo Estrada: Begins rehab assignment
Estrada (wrist) went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a hit-by-pitch in his first rehab game with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.
Estrada has been shelved for nearly three weeks with a sprained left wrist but is almost ready to rejoin the Giants' active roster. Because he hasn't missed much time, Estrada would appear likely to be activated for the weekend series in Oakland which begins Saturday. Once he's back, Estrada should see the bulk of the reps at second base for San Francisco.

Colt Keith 3B | DET
Tigers' Colt Keith: Another two-hit game
Keith went 2-for-4 with two runs scored Tuesday in the Tigers' 15-1 win over the Mariners.
Keith has produced consecutive two-hit games to begin the four-game series with the Mariners, bringing his slash line up to .253/301/.356 since the All-Star break. Though Keith hasn't provided the power production he demonstrated in the minors in 2023 -- he slugged 27 home runs between Triple-A Toledo and Double-A Erie -- he's made contact at a steady enough clip (17.8 percent strikeout rate) to keep his batting average afloat.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Diagnosed with ankle sprain
Manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Marte has a low-grade left ankle sprain and will not require a stint on the injured list, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Marte initially injured his ankle during Saturday's game against the Phillies and aggravated it during his lone at-bat in Monday's 5-4 win over the Rockies. He was out of the lineup Tuesday, but it's unclear how many additional games Marte might miss before his ankle returns to 100 percent. The Diamondbacks' decision to keep him on the active roster is an encouraging sign.

Spencer Horwitz 1B | PIT
Blue Jays' Spencer Horwitz: Smacks homer in win
Horwitz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Angels.
Horwitz is 10-for-39 (.256) with six RBI and four extra-base hits over 11 contests in August. His homer Tuesday stretched Toronto's lead to 5-0 in the third inning. Horwitz is up to a .272/.363/.424 slash line with six homers, 22 RBI, 28 runs scored and 11 doubles over 223 plate appearances. He continues to see regular playing time between first base, second base and designated hitter.

Gavin Lux SS | TB
Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Lifts two-run homer
Lux went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Brewers.
Lux batted .282 over 12 contests between homers, adding three doubles and seven RBI in that span. The second baseman's blast Tuesday stretched the Dodgers' lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning. For the year, he's up to seven long balls, 41 RBI, 38 runs scored, four stolen bases and a .242/.301/.364 slash line over 101 contests.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Productive in loss
Hoerner went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Guardians. He also stole two bases.
Hoerner was a bright spot for Chicago amid a poor offensive performance, as the rest of the team combined for only three hits. The infielder also stole multiple bases in a game for the third time this season. Hoerner is now up to 22 stolen bases overall, and his ability to run is the main source of his fantasy value, as he doesn't offer much power.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Held out of Tuesday's lineup
Marte (ankle) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
The 30-year-old initially suffered the bruised ankle Saturday and returned to the lineup for Monday's series opener versus Colorado, but he exited the contest after showing discomfort during his first plate appearance. Marte was scheduled to undergo an MRI on the ankle Tuesday, though the team is still awaiting the results of the imaging, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic.

Nicky Lopez 3B | COL
White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Not starting Tuesday
Lopez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Yankees.
Lopez has gone 6-for-18 with three walks, two doubles, two RBI and a run through five games in August but will sit for Tuesday's contest. Brooks Baldwin will shift to shortstop while Lenyn Sosa starts at second base and Miguel Vargas mans the hot corner.
