  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Good to go Tuesday

Garcia (wrist) is batting third and playing second base Tuesday against the Orioles, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Garcia won't miss any time after jamming his left wrist during Sunday's game, filling his usual three-hole spot against the right-handed Corbin Burnes. Garcia has generated a hit in 13 of his last 14 games, including a four-hit outing Sunday prior to the injury.

  • Luis Rengifo 3B | LAA

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Sitting again Tuesday

Rengifo (illness) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Rengifo hasn't been in the lineup since Friday due to the illness, and his absence will extend to four games Tuesday. Cole Tucker will receive another start at the hot corner for the Halos.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Takes light swings in cage

Gelof (oblique) has progressed to taking light swings in the batting cage, but he remains without a firm timetable for return, MLB.com reports.

It's been an eventful last few days on the recovery front for Gelof, who resumed some baseball activities by fielding grounders and playing catch Wednesday and then threw across the infield before the Athletics' game Friday. The progression to picking up a bat is another step in the right direction, but the team remains committed to not sending Gelof out on a rehab assignment prematurely due to the risk of aggravating the injury.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Dealing with sore wrist

Garcia jammed his wrist Sunday sliding into second base and was replaced by pinch hitter Ildemaro Vargas in the eighth inning, but he's not expected to miss much time, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The Nationals had an off day Monday, so Garcia might not end up missing a start, but it wouldn't be a surprise if manager Dave Martinez gave him an extra day to recover. Garcia has had a breakout season so far, slashing .337/.381/.510 with three homers and six steals in 105 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Pops homer in win

Massey went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win over the Brewers.

Massey got the Royals on the board in the seventh inning. The second baseman continues to hit well after a brief stretch to get up to speed following his April 19 season debut. Massey has hit safely in nine straight games and has an extra-base hit in five of the last six contests. He's slashing .294/.308/.529 with three homers, 10 RBI, nine runs scored, three doubles and no stolen bases through 53 plate appearances.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Out against lefty

Gorman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.

The Cardinals are facing a left-handed starting pitcher (Sean Manaea) for the second day in a row, so the lefty-hitting Gorman will once again head to the bench. Jose Fermin will fill in for Gorman at second base.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Mets' Joey Wendle: Draws rare start

Wendle will start at second base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Cardinals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Wendle will start for just the ninth time through the Mets' 35 games this season, handling second base while Jeff McNeil gets a look in left field. The 34-year-old will likely to continue seeing light use in his utility role unless the Mets lose one of their regular infielders to injury.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Getting Monday off

Turang is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.

Turang -- who is tied for second in the majors with 14 stolen bases -- will hit the bench for just the third time all season in what looks to be a maintenance day. Joey Ortiz will fill in for Turang at the keystone and will bat second.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | ARI

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Back in action Monday

Lopez (adductor) will start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Rays.

Lopez was held out of the lineup for Sunday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals with adductor soreness, but the injury was apparently just a minor concern. After serving as the White Sox's leadoff hitter in each of his last 12 starts, the lefty-hitting Lopez will drop the bottom of the order Monday, likely because Chicago is opposing a southpaw in Tyler Alexander.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Moves to 60-day IL

The Cardinals transferred Edman (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

Edman has been on the IL all season while working his way back from October surgery on his right wrist. The 28-year-old has resumed taking swings from both sides of the plate without incident, but since he has yet to be cleared for full baseball activities, the expectation was that he would still need at least a few more weeks to finish up his rehab program. With that in mind, Edman's move to the 60-day IL doesn't come as surprise, and his potential timeline for a return won't be dramatically affected as a result. He won't be eligible to make his 2024 Cardinals debut until May 24.
