Santiago Espinal 2B | LAD
Reds' Santiago Espinal: Starts at third base
Espinal started at third base and went 0-for-3 with a walk and stolen base in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mets.
Jeimer Candelario served as the designated hitter after leaving Wednesday's game with a sore elbow. It's unclear if Candelario will be limited to DH duties, but if so, Espinal could fill in at third base. He's expected to slot in somewhere anytime the Reds are facing a left-hander. Espinal is 1-for-10 with two walks and two steals through four games (three starts).

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Opens with homer
Marte went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to Atlanta.
Marte sent the fourth pitch of the game -- a hanging slider from Spencer Strider -- over the right-center field wall. It was the second consecutive game with a home run for Marte, who continued a hot start to the season. He's slashing .353/.385/.588 with four extra-base hits, five RBI and 10 runs scored over eight games.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: Appears as pinch hitter
Lowe (side) went 0-for-3 Friday against the Rockies.
Lowe was held out of the lineup due to the combination of side tightness and a lefty on the mound. However, he entered the game in the sixth inning as a pinch hitter after the Rockies turned to their bullpen. That's a good sign Lowe will be back in the lineup Saturday with Colorado set to send righty Ryan Feltner to the mound.

Brendan Rodgers 2B | BOS
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Productive at home
Rodgers went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored Friday against the Rays.
Rodgers went just 3-for-25 in the Rockies' seaosn-opening road trip while striking out at a 28.0 percent clip. He fared better at hitter-friendly Coors Field on Friday, and his performance was highlighted by a double in the first inning. That marked Rodgers' second extra-base hit of the season, though he'll have the chance to add to that total in the remaining five games of the current homestand.

Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Mets' Jeff McNeil: Belts homer in win
McNeil went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during the Mets' victory over the Reds on Friday.
McNeil's homer in the eighth inning off Emilio Pagan extended New York's lead to 3-1, and it would end up being the difference in the game as the Mets would win 3-2. The 2022 NL batting champion is slashing just .105/.190/.263 through his first 21 plate appearances this season after a down 2023, and he'll need to string more hits together before he's viewed as a reliable fantasy asset again.

Oliver Dunn 2B | CHW
Brewers' Oliver Dunn: Steals bag, goes deep
Dunn went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Mariners.
Dunn launched his first career home run in the fourth inning and then recorded his first MLB steal in the eighth. The 26-year-old was 3-for-12 with a 1:5 BB:K through his first four MLB appearances before Friday's breakout. He'll need to continue swinging the bat well to maintain playing time with the Brewers.

Lenyn Sosa 2B | TOR
White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Promotion incoming
Sosa is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
With Eloy Jimenez (thigh) and Luis Robert (hip) both dealing with injuries, adding Sosa will give the White Sox extra depth. The 24-year-old infielder has slashed just .186/.209/.327 across 209 plate appearances in his MLB career, but he's had a hot start through five games at Charlotte, going 8-for-24 with two doubles and a homer. Sosa's bat may be useful for a White Sox offense that is suddenly without its star contributors.

Marcus Semien 2B | NYM
Rangers' Marcus Semien: Perfect day at dish
Semien went 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, three runs scored and two walks in Friday's win over the Astros.
Semien reached base in each of the first three innings and later put an exclamation point on his day with a three-run blast in the sixth. The veteran infielder has collected multiple hits four times in his first seven games, but he went hitless in the other three. He's slashing .333/.471/.481 with two extra-base hits, eight RBI and an 8:3 BB:K.

Jose Rodriguez 2B | PHI
Phillies' Jose Rodriguez: Traded to Phillies
The White Sox traded Rodriguez to the Phillies on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.
Rodriguez was designated for assignment Thursday but will remain on a 40-man roster as he joins the Phillies organization. The 22-year-old infielder reached Triple-A for the first time last season, slashing .253/.270/.379 across 89 plate appearances, and he made his big-league debut in June as a pinch runner, but Philadelphia optioned him to Double-A Reading after acquiring him.

Luis Rengifo 2B | MIL
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Not starting Friday
Rengifo (head) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Rengifo left Wednesday's game against the Marlins after feeling lightheaded. Anthony Rendon is back in at third base and will hit in the leadoff spot against Red Sox right-hander Kutter Crawford.
