Gelof is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Gelof will miss out on a start for the first time since June 16, when he was on the bench for the front end of a doubleheader with the Twins. While Gelof receives a breather, Armando Alvarez will be rewarded with a second straight start in the Oakland infield after banging out three hits in his first MLB start in Tuesday's 7-5 loss.

Bogaerts (shoulder) took batting practice on the field Wednesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

The Padres haven't divulged a potential timeline for Bogaerts' return from the 10-day injured list, but his ability to take on-field BP for the first time since suffering a fracture in his left shoulder in late May represents a major milestone in the recovery process. A clearer target date for Bogaerts' return could come into focus in the next few weeks once he resumes running and taking reps in the infield.

Drury (illness) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Drury hasn't played in more than a week due to an upper-respiratory virus. The Angels have resisted placing him on the 10-day injured list thus far, and the team hasn't provided an indication that it has changed its stance, so consider Drury day-to-day. Luis Rengifo will cover second base Wednesday in Drury's stead.

Edman (wrist) sprained his ankle while fielding grounders Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The injury isn't viewed as a major setback, but it's not ideal after Edman had finally been making some real progress in his recovery from right wrist surgery. The Cardinals had been hopeful that Edman would be ready for a rehab assignment soon, and while that still could be the case, the ankle issue could delay him a few days.

The Rangers activated Foscue (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Foscue is fully recovered from the oblique strain that had kept him on the shelf since early April, but the Rangers will keep him at Round Rock, where he had been on a rehab assignment. The rookie infielder is 4-for-21 with one home run in seven games with Round Rock this season.

McNeil went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.

It's the 32-year-old's first multi-hit performance since June 9, with McNeil batting a brutal .088 (3-for-34) in between. The career .291 hitter is slashing just .216/.281/.298 on the season, and his lengthy slump -- as well as a hot start to Jose Iglesias' Mets tenure -- has put McNeil's playing time in a bit of jeopardy. He may need to string together a few more solid efforts to avoid losing his hold on even a strong-side platoon role at second base.

Massey is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Marlins.

Massey started the first two games of the series at designated hitter upon his activation from the 10-day injured list, but he will begin the Wednesday afternoon tilt on the bench. Vinnie Pasquantino will serve as the Royals' DH on Wednesday while Salvador Perez gets a start at first base.

Gonzales went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Reds.

Gonzales was in a cold spell entering Tuesday's contest, as he had gone just 1-for-23 with eight strikeouts across his past seven games. He snapped out of that slump with his second three-hit performance of the season. Despite the recent downturn, Gonzales has enjoyed his most sustained success in the majors, maintaining a .282 average and .755 OPS across 161 plate appearances.

Polanco is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay.

Polanco played the first two games of the series upon his return from the injured list, going 1-for-8 with one run scored and four strikeouts. He'll receive a breather Wednesday as Dylan Moore fills in at second base.

Lowe (toe) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe will miss out on a fourth consecutive start as he deals with a fractured right pinky toe. The plan still seems to be for Lowe to attempt to play through the injury, and perhaps he'll be ready to do so Friday against the Nationals following the Rays' off day Thursday.
