Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Sitting out against lefty
Rojas is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Rockies.
Emmanuel Rivera will play third base and bat second with left-hander Kyle Freeland set to toe the slab for Colorado. Rojas has slashed just .208/.296/.250 this year against southpaws.

Zack Short 3B | DET
Tigers' Zack Short: In leadoff spot
Short is starting at second base and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Rangers.
He could be used fairly regularly in the leadoff spot versus left-handed pitching while Matt Vierling (back) is sidelined. Short is sporting a nifty .937 OPS with three home runs in 20 games with the big club, although his track record suggest the success is likely to be short-lived (no pun intended).

Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Mets' Jeff McNeil: Returns to lineup Tuesday
McNeil (groin) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies.
McNeil was held out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Rockies due to mild groin tightness, but he's ready to rock following Monday's team off day. The 31-year-old will start at second base and bat seventh versus the Phillies and left-hander Ranger Suarez.

Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA
Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Optioned to Triple-A
Edwards was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Jesus Sanchez (hamstring) has been activated from the injured list in a corresponding roster move ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Padres. Edwards, 23, is 8-for-21 (.381) this year in the majors and should eventually get another opportunity with the Marlins.

Brandon Drury 2B | KC
Angels' Brandon Drury: Hits homer Monday
Drury went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Monday's 6-4 win over the White Sox.
Drury helped the Angels get off to a fast start, drilling a three-run shot in the first inning. The long ball was his ninth of the campaign, two of which have come over his past four games. Drury also drew a free pass for his third straight contest, exceeding the amount of walks he had taken in his previous 23 games combined.

Romy Gonzalez 2B | BOS
White Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Homers in second straight game
Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Angels.
After going without a home run in his first 58 plate appearances of the season, Gonzalez has now popped solo blasts in both of the White Sox's past two games. He appears to have supplanted Hanser Alberto as Chicago's preferred second baseman for the time being, but both Gonzalez and Alberto will see their opportunities take a hit when Elvis Andrus (oblique) likely returns from the 10-day injured list later this week.

Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Steals base in win
Rojas started at second base and went 0-for-3 with a walk, stolen base and run scored in Monday's 7-5 win over the Rockies.
Rojas filled in at the keystone for a resting Ketel Marte. He was part of a double steal in the second inning immediately before Pavin Smith's three-run home run gave Arizona a lead it would not relinquish. The steal was the sixth in 44 games for Rojas, who had 23 thefts over 125 games in 2022. He's recently been moved out of the leadoff spot to sixth in the order, where he's 2-for-12. Rojas had a hot three-week stretch to open the season but is slashing .175/.261/.250 over the last 27 games.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Belts grand slam in loss
Altuve went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in Monday's 10-inning loss to the Twins.
Altuve temporarily turned the game around with his seventh-inning grand slam, giving Houston its first lead of the game. However, Minnesota eventually prevailed after the game went to an extra frame. Altuve missed the first seven weeks of the campaign after fracturing his thumb in the World Baseball Classic, but he hasn't missed a beat upon his return. He's hit safely in seven straight games and is slashing .355/.444/.645 with two homers, six RBI and seven runs overall through 36 plate appearances.

Michael Massey 2B | KC
Royals' Michael Massey: Swats fourth homer
Massey went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 7-0 win over the Cardinals.
Massey provided the Royals' last runs with his ninth-inning blast. The second baseman has multiple hits in each of his last four starts, and he's now hitting .324 (22-for-68) in May, albeit with a 9:20 BB:K for the month. He's up to a .240 batting average with four homers, 17 RBI, 15 runs scored and three stolen bases through 48 contests while mainly seeing a strong-side platoon role at the keystone.

Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC
Royals' Nicky Lopez: Responds with four-hit game
Lopez went 4-for-5 with one run scored and one steal in Monday's 7-0 win over the Cardinals.
Since returning from the injured list, Lopez has operated almost exclusively as a defensive replacement behind Maikel Garcia. Monday's start marked Lopez's first since May 22, and he made the most of his opportunity by notching the second four-hit game of his career. However, the 28-year-old may have to deliver a few more performances like this before he's awarded a full-time role again.
