Tyler Nevin 3B | ATH
Athletics' Tyler Nevin: Doubles, scores in loss
Nevin started at third base in a loss to the Angels on Sunday and went 1-for-4 with a double and a run.
Nevin recorded a second consecutive start for the first time since June 25-26 and was in the opening lineup for the third game in the last four overall. The utility player laced his second double in that span and subsequently scored the first run of the day for the Athletics on Miguel Andujar's fielder's choice groundout in the third inning. Nevin has seen action at five different positions including designated hitter, and while he's offered some decent pop by belting 13 of his 35 hits for extra bases, he carries a lackluster .205/.299/.351 slash line across 197 plate appearances overall.

Josh H. Smith 2B | TEX
Rangers' Josh Smith: Pokes homer in loss
Smith went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Blue Jays.
Smith launched a two-run shot in the eighth inning, his 11th of the season. With news that third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) is progressing well on a rehab assignment, Smith will soon find a new home in the Rangers' lineup, likely as the primary designated hitter.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Reaches 20-steal mark
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Phillies.
After going 13 games without a steal, Ramirez has swiped a bag in each of the last two contests to get to 20 thefts on the year. He's one of 19 players in the majors to reach that mark so far in 2024. The third baseman continues to provide well-rounded production from the heart of the Guardians' order, slashing .271/.326/.507 with 24 home runs, 82 RBI and 73 runs scored over 102 games.

Rendon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the A's, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
It's the second consecutive game on the bench for Rendon, who has gone 5-for-30 in seven contests since the All-Star break. Willie Calhoun will bat cleanup as the designated hitter in the series finale versus Oakland.

Jose Miranda 3B | MIN
Twins' Jose Miranda: Avoids concussion
Miranda cleared the preliminary concussion protocol and was diagnosed with a head contusion after being hit by a pitch Sunday against the Tigers, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Miranda was struck in the head by a fastball during the opening inning, and the pitch appeared to hit the ear flap of his helmet. The 26-year-old should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated, but avoiding a concussion on the initial diagnosis is certainly an encouraging sign for his outlook.

Christopher Morel 1B | NYM
Rays' Christopher Morel: Heading to Tampa Bay
The Rays acquired Morel and prospects Hunter Bigge and Ty Johnson in exchange for Isaac Paredes on Sunday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Morel went 0-for-1 in Sunday's game at Kansas City before being pulled due to the trade. The 25-year-old has a .199/.302/.373 slash line with 18 homers and a 47:102 BB:K in 421 plate appearances this season. Morel's role in Tampa Bay should be similar to the one he had in Chicago, splitting time between third base and designated hitter.

Twins' Jose Miranda: Departs after scary HBP
Miranda exited Sunday's game against the Tigers after being hit by a pitch in the head, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
The pitch appeared to hit Miranda in the ear flap of his helmet, and he was able to leave the field under his own power after a couple minutes. The 26-year-old will likely go through concussion testing and should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated.

Josh Rojas 3B | KC
Mariners' Josh Rojas: On bench vs. lefty
Rojas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Rojas went 2-for-8 with two walks, a double and a three-run homer in the first two games of the series, but he'll take a seat for the finale with southpaw Garrett Crochet pitching for Chicago. Dylan Moore will shift to third base while Leo Rivas receives a start at shortstop.

Josh Jung 3B | TEX
Rangers' Josh Jung: Resumes rehab assignment
Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday that Jung (wrist) is "doing great" after playing rehab games for Double-A Frisco on Friday and Saturday, MLB.com reports.
Jung, who had his original rehab assignment paused in June, restarted it over the weekend, going 2-for-7 in the two games. The Rangers will evaluate the injured third baseman Monday, at which point the club will determine next steps. Options include having Jung play another rehab series in Triple-A or clearing the way for his return to the major-league club.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Notches steal in loss
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Saturday's 8-0 loss to the Phillies.
Ramirez had gone 13 games without a steal, and he hit a meager .235 with four extra-base hits in that span. The third baseman's rough July has taken a a bit of a bite out of his overall numbers. He's now at a .270/.324/.509 slash line with 24 home runs, 19 steals, 82 RBI, 72 runs scored, 22 doubles and one triple through 101 contests.
