  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Angels' Gio Urshela: Sitting out again Wednesday

Urshela (back) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Rangers, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

He's now been out of the lineup for four straight contests and five of the last six while dealing with a back problem. Anthony Rendon's return has had an effect on Urshela's playing time, as well.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Tigers' Nick Maton: Sitting out second game

Maton is not in the lineup for the second game of a twin bill versus Atlanta on Wednesday.

Maton went 0-for-1 with a run scored while drawing a walk in the first game of the doubleheader. The infielder will take a break during the second game with Jonathan Schoop handling the hot corner and hitting sixth.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Gets rest Wednesday

Garcia is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Reds, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Garcia will take a seat after he went 1-for-8 with a walk and a strikeout while starting the first two contests of the series with Cincinnati. Nicky Lopez will take over at the hot corner and bat seventh in the series finale Wednesday.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Gets third consecutive start

Urias will start at third base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

He'll pick up his third consecutive start versus a right-handed pitcher after going 6-for-10 with two doubles, four runs and two RBI over the Orioles' previous two contests. With Ryan Mountcastle (illness) recently joining Cedric Mullins (groin) on the 10-day injured list, the Orioles could have a near-everyday role available for Urias until one of those two injured regulars returns to action.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Gets Wednesday off

Devers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

With a team off day coming Thursday, the Red Sox will look to build in a two-day break for Devers, who was overdue for a breather after starting in each of Boston's last 16 games. Justin Turner will step in for Devers at the hot corner in the series finale with Colorado.

  • Ryan Kreidler 3B | MIN

Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Recovering from core-muscle surgery

The Tigers announced Wednesday that Kreidler (knee) recently underwent core-muscle surgery, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Kreidler was placed on Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list April 28 due to knee soreness, but he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment with High-A West Michigan just under a month later. He played in five games in the Midwest League before being pulled off the assignment two weeks ago, presumably on account of the core-muscle injury. Kreidler is in the midst of daily treatment and is taking part in physical therapy following the recent procedure, but he's without a clear timeline to resume playing in games.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: On bench for day game

Lewis is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Since making his 2023 debut with the Twins on May 29, Lewis has been holding his own in the big leagues, slashing .318/.318/.477 over his first 44 plate appearances. However, because he's returning from the second ACL tear to his right knee of his young professional career, the Twins seem to be managing his workload somewhat conservatively. Despite getting a breather for Saturday's 9-4 win over the Blue Jays, Lewis will get another chance to rest up for the day game just four days later. Donovan Solano will spell Lewis at third base in the series finale with Milwaukee.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Pops fourth homer

Farmer went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Brewers.

Getting the start at second base and batting seventh, Farmer chased Corbin Burnes from the game by leading off the seventh inning with his fourth homer of the season. The 32-year-old infielder has started only two of the last seven games, and with Edouard Julien getting a look at the keystone and Royce Lewis handling the hot corner, playing time will likely be scarce for Farmer despite his solid .270/.328/.393 slash line on the season.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Two long balls in losing effort

Devers went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Rockies.

The star third baseman got the Red Sox on the board by taking Chase Anderson deep in the fourth inning for a two-run shot, then launched another two-run homer in the 10th off Matt Carasiti. Unfortunately for Boston, Colorado had scored three times in the top of the 10th. Devers has gone yard four times in the last five games, but a feast-or-famine June that has seen him fail to collect a hit in six of his 13 games has left him with a .250/.351/.563 slash line on the month to date.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Big night in loss

Devers went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to Colorado.

Devers launched his third and fourth homers over the last five games, giving him 17 home runs and an MLB-leading 56 RBI through 65 games. Prior to this recent outburst, the third baseman endured a power outage. Devers had gone 16 games without a home run and had a .230 slugging percentage in that span.
