Angels' Anthony Rendon: Remains out Wednesday
Rendon (triceps) isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
Rendon suffered a right triceps strain Monday, and he'll remain out of the lineup for a second consecutive game. However, manager Joe Maddon is optimistic that the third baseman won't require a trip to the injured list. Phil Gosselin will start at third base and bat seventh Wednesday.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Remains out Wednesday
Moncada (illness) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
As expected, Moncada will remain on the bench for a third straight game while he continues to recover from a sinus infection. Leury Garcia will pick up another start at third base in place of Moncada, who will hope to return to action at some point during Chicago's four-game series in Houston that begins Thursday.

Josh Jung 3B | TEX
Rangers' Josh Jung: Makes season debut
Jung (foot) made his season debut for Double-A Frisco on Tuesday and went 1-for-4 against Corpus Christi.
Jung served as the designated hitter for the Rough Riders and slotted in at third in the order. The activity marked the first time he's played in a regular-season game since the end of 2019. A top prospect within the organization, Jung had his 2021 season put on hold first by a delay in the minor-league season, then by a stress fracture in his right foot that required a screw to be inserted. Jung seemingly has a clear path to third base for the Rangers, but it's uncertain how last year's pandemic-impacted season and this year's injury delays that timeline.

Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Drives in four
Devers went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, four RBI and two runs scored Tuesday against Atlanta.
Devers played a big role in Boston's 10-run offensive outburst Tuesday. He delivered a three-run home run in the first inning, his 16th long ball of the season. Two frames later, he drove in another run with a single. The productive effort continued a hot stretch at the plate for Devers, who's now collected at least one hit in five of his last six starts, a span in which he's collected six RBI and scored six runs. For the season, Devers has a .283/.344/.570 line with 54 RBI and 45 runs scored.

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Unlikely to play Wednesday
Manager Tony La Russa said Moncada (illness) isn't expected to play Wednesday against the Rays, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
He sat out Tuesday for the third time in the past four days while managing a sinus infection, and he's expected to be unavailable again for Wednesday's series finale. Leury Garcia could receive another start at third base with Moncada likely sitting out.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: Should avoid injured list
Rendon was diagnosed with a strained right triceps Tuesday, and manager Joe Maddon said the third baseman is expected to be out "for a couple days" but shouldn't require a trip to the injured list, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
It's apparently not a serious strain strain, as Maddon said the outlook "is better than we had thought." Rendon is out of the lineup Tuesday against the A's and is likely to sit again Wednesday, but he could be back on the field during the upcoming four-game set versus the Tigers that begins Thursday.

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Sitting out Tuesday
Rendon (triceps) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Athletics.
The 32-year-old exited Monday's contest with a triceps issue and will be sidelined for at least one game. Rendon should be considered day-to-day until his status is updated, and it's unclear whether he'll be available off the bench. Kean Wong will fill in at the hot corner for the Halos.

Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Reinstated Tuesday
Candelario was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Royals, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Candelario missed much of last week due to a personal matter and then had to be placed on the COVID-19 injured list to undergo health protocols Saturday. He's been cleared to return to the team, though it's not known whether he'll be in the starting lineup Tuesday in Kansas City.

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Battling sinus infection
Moncada (illness) is out again Tuesday as he deals with a sinus infection, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Moncada will miss his third game in the last four days and is day-to-day with the sinus infection. It's unclear when exactly he'll return to the lineup, but Leury Garcia is filling in at third base Tuesday and figures to do so until Moncada is back in action.
