White Sox's Jake Burger: Swats first Triple-A homer

Burger (quadriceps) went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI for Triple-A Charlotte in its 12-9 loss to Gwinnett.

Burger was sidelined for a few days after suffering a quad strain in Charlotte's season opener, but the third baseman has now appeared in two games for the affiliate. He celebrated his return to action in style Sunday, taking Atlanta pitching prospect Kyle Muller deep in the first inning for his first home run at the Triple-A level and his first in affiliated ball since 2017. Burger previously missed the entire 2018 and 2019 seasons after tearing his Achilles tendon and requiring surgery on two separate occasions, and he didn't play in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor-league season.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Plates three runs

Devers went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI and a strikeout in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Orioles.

Devers put the Red Sox on the board with a solo home run in the second inning Sunday, and he drove in two more runs with a double in the top of the sixth frame. In his last five games, Devers has gone 6-for-19 with a home run, three doubles, seven RBI, five runs and a stolen base.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Won't start Sunday

Urshela (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Urshela will be on the bench for a third straight game due to the knee injury he suffered in Thursday's game against the Astros, but the Yankees remain confident he'll avoid a trip to the injured list. In fact, manager Aaron Boone said that following Monday's off day, Urshela should be on track to rejoin the lineup for Tuesday's series opener in Tampa Bay, according to Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record. Miguel Andujar will man third base in Urshela's stead Sunday.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: On hitting bender

Bregman went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Blue Jays.

Bregman recorded his second consecutive three-hit effort and has hit safely in five straight games, going 10-for-20 with four extra-base hits, three RBI and six runs. He and his mates outhit the Jays, 9-5, but they could not overcome Houston's pitchers, who allowed four of the five batters they walked to score.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Drives in three in win

Moncada went 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 9-1 win over the Royals.

Moncada got the fireworks started in the first inning when the White Sox scored eight runs. He plated Tim Anderson and Nick Madrigal with a two-run double that turned out to be the winning hit, then finished off the eight-run inning with an RBI single. The third baseman is slashing .262/.360/.393, and that's with a heady .357 BABIP.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Blasts two-run homer

Donaldson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, an additional RBI and a walk in Saturday's loss against the Tigers.

Donaldson carried the Twins offensively in this game, as he plated the team's three runs. The veteran third baseman ended an eight-game homer drought and he's now hit safely in five of Minnesota's last seven games, recording three multi-hit appearances in that span.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Minimum IL stay possible

Manager Joe Maddon said it's "not out of the question" Rendon (knee) is activated from the injured list when first eligible Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The 30-year-old is only a couple days removed from being placed on the injured list with a bruised left knee, and it's a good sign he hasn't been ruled out beyond the 10-day minimum. Rendon may still end up spending more than 10 days on the shelf, but it doesn't appear he's ticketed for a lengthy absence.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Remains out of lineup

Urshela (knee) isn't starting Saturday against the Nationals.

Urshela suffered a knee injury Thursday and underwent an MRI that came back clean. He's considered day-to-day but will be excluded from the lineup for a second straight game. Urshela is feeling better Saturday, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return to the lineup Sunday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports. DJ LeMahieu will shift to third base while Tyler Wade starts at the keystone.

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Blasts two home runs in loss

LeMahieu went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs and a strikeout in Friday's 11-4 loss to the Nationals.

LeMahieu led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run, and he smacked a game-tying shot with no outs in the sixth frame. The Yankees were unable to pick up the win, but LeMahieu is now hitting .283 with three homers, 21 runs and nine RBI this season.
