Yankees' Gio Urshela: Blasts three-run homer

Urshela went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Orioles.

Urshela went yard off Orioles starter Dean Kremer in the third inning. The homer was Urshela's fourth of the year, and he's added 15 RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base in 22 games. The third baseman is slashing .278/.318/.481 through 85 plate appearances, mainly in the heart of the Yankees' order.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

White Sox's Nick Madrigal: Sitting Wednesday

Madrigal is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Tigers.

Madrigal is hitting .351 with zero home runs, zero steals, two strikeouts and one walk over his last 10 games. Leury Garcia will start at second base and bat eighth.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Reaches base three times

LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a walk in Tuesday's win over the Orioles.

LeMahieu entered this game in a 2-for-20 slump, but he bounced back in a big way and reached base three times -- tying a season-high mark for him in that category. The second baseman is having a slow start to the season, though, and he's hitting just .262 with a .704 OPS thus far -- that average would rank as a career-worst mark for him excluding his rookie year in 2011.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Plates two runs

Urshela went 1-for-3 with two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Orioles.

Urshela has driven at least one run in three straight games while also hitting safely in six of his last eight contests. He's hitting .296 with during that stretch.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Homers in back-to-back games

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and an additional RBI during Tuesday's 7-4 win against the Twins.

The 28-year-old has now homered in back-to-back contests and has a modest six-game hit streak. Ramirez has a .259/.333/.543 slash line with six home runs, three doubles, four stolen bases, 12 RBI and 12 runs through 22 games this season.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Sits amid slump

Chapman is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Rays.

It's been a rough recent stretch for Chapman, who is 1-for-23 with 11 strikeouts over his last eight games. The one silver lining is that he has a 25 percent walk rate over that stretch. Vimael Machin will start at third base and hit eighth.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: On base twice in win

Chapman went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run in a win over the Rays on Monday.

The slugging third baseman played some small ball effectively in the victory and came home on Sean Murphy's fourth-inning home run. While the pair of walks at least does something for Chapman's on-base percentage, he's still mired in an eight-game slump during which he's hit .043 (1-for-23) with an RBI, eight bases on balls and two runs. While Chapman has three home runs on the season, the most recent came April 16, nine games ago.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Hitless in return

Rendon went 0-for-4 with a walk and a pair of strikeouts in a win over the Rangers on Monday.

The veteran first baseman was clearly rusty after missing over two weeks with a groin injury, rendering him unable to join the Angels' 16-hit attack against Texas. He struck out twice for the first time this season but did draw his sixth walk of the campaign. Rendon stayed in the game for the entire contest, so it appears that he emerged without any setbacks and should be good to go moving forward.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Hammers clutch homer

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-3 victory over the Twins.

Ramirez came through with a clutch homer in the bottom of the eighth inning, tying the ballgame at 3-3. Cleveland would later win in 10 innings. The third baseman has pieced together a modest five-game hitting streak and is 6-for-17 with a pair of RBI, three extra-base hits and two walks over that stretch.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Astros' Abraham Toro: Optioned to alternate site

Toro was optioned to the Astros' alternate training site on Monday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Toro is no longer needed on the big-league roster with Jose Altuve returning from the COVID-19 injured list. He went 1-for-12 with a walk in his limited opportunities.
