Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Pirates' Kevin Newman: Groin issue resurfaces
Newman was removed from Tuesday's game against the Brewers with left groin tightness, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
Newman missed three games with a left groin injury before returning to action last week, and it appears he aggravated the injury Tuesday. The 28-year-old went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run prior to exiting the contest and should be considered day-to-day.

Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Tallies two hits
McMahon went 2-for-3 with a double Monday against the Phillies.
Though he didn't record any counting stats, McMahon had a strong performance at the plate. He recorded his fourth multi-hit performance of the season, which brought his average up to .241. McMahon has only one home run of the season, but he has six doubles to go along with six runs scored and eight RBI across 61 plate appearances.

Evan Longoria 3B | ARI
Giants' Evan Longoria: Increases hitting program
Longoria (finger) has started to increase his hitting progression, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Longoria began his hitting progression approximately a week ago after participating in limited baseball activities before then. The 36-year-old certainly appears to be trending in the right direction, but he doesn't yet have a timetable to return from the 10-day injured list.

Jace Peterson SS | ARI
Brewers' Jace Peterson: Takes seat against lefty
Peterson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants.
He's one of several lefty-hitting regulars in the Milwaukee lineup with southpaw Sam Long on the hill for San Francisco. The righty-hitting Mike Brosseau will step in for Peterson at third base Monday, but both players will see their opportunities to play the hot corner take a hit in the likely event that Luis Urias (quadriceps) returns from the injured list later this week.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Pirates' Kevin Newman: Reaches base three times
Newman went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.
Newman drew a walk in the second inning and followed it up with an RBI double in the third off of Justin Steele. He finished topped off his big day with a fifth-inning single and raised his average to .222 through 45 at-bats. Sunday's performance was his first multi-hit game of the year.

Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Dominant against Marlins
Riley went 3-for-5 with a homer, two doubles, two RBI and a strikeout in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Miami.
Atlanta struggled to generate much offensive production in Sunday's matchup, but Riley kept the team in the game with his three extra-base hits, including a two-run blast with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning. The 25-year-old has 10 extra-base hits in 16 appearances this season, and he's slashed .295/.394/.590 with four homers, six doubles, 10 runs, nine RBI and a stolen base.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Mets' J.D. Davis: Clubs first homer
Davis went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run in Sunday's 6-2 win against Arizona.
Davis had his first truly solid game of the season Sunday, singling in the second inning, walking and scoring in the seventh and connecting on a solo shot in the eighth to provide a valuable insurance run. Opportunities have been difficult to come by for the 28-year-old who had just 20 at-bats on the season prior to Sunday, though he's always hit well for New York when given the chance with a .285 average across four seasons with the team.

Matt Reynolds 3B | CIN
Reds' Matt Reynolds: Claimed by Cincinnati
Reynolds was claimed off waivers by the Reds on Sunday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
The 31-year-old was designated for assignment by the Mets on Wednesday and will now join the Reds. Ryan Hendrix, who was removed from the 40-man roster in a corresponding move, had been pitching for Triple-A Louisville, so the Reds will have to make another transaction to clear a spot on the 28-man active roster for Reynolds. Expect him to fill a utility role in the infield for the banged-up Reds.
-
Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Still getting solid playing time
Wisdom will start at third base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Though Jonathan Villar has seemingly leapfrogged Wisdom in the pecking order at third base, both players' ability to bounce around between multiple positions should help them occupy near full-time roles. Wisdom will make his fourth straight Sunday -- with three coming at the hot corner -- while Villar fills in at shortstop for a resting Nico Hoerner. Wisdom is coming off one of his best games of the season Saturday, when he went 1-for-4 with two walks, two runs and an RBI in the Cubs' 21-0 win.

Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI
Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Threat to DeJong's starting role
Sosa will start at shortstop and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Reds.
Sosa will pick up his second start in three days with Paul DeJong mired in a 5-for-36 slump (.139 average) to begin the season. According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, manager Oliver Marmol said it's "too early" to say that DeJong's standing atop the depth chart is in question, but the skipper noted that the 28-year-old will remain out of the lineup Monday against Mets right-hander Max Scherzer. Expect Sosa to pick up another start Monday, and he could have a chance to make a legitimate run at the everyday shortstop job if he impresses over the next two days.
