Padres' Manny Machado: Blasts two-run home run
Machado went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in a 6-5 loss against the Cubs on Friday.
This was Machado's fourth multi-hit game in his last seven contests since the All-Star break. During that stretch, he has four home runs and six RBI. With 24 homers already, Machado is well on his way to his fifth straight 30-home run season. He is hitting .271 with 39 extra-base hits, 64 RBI, 56 runs and two steals in 361 at-bats this season.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Heads to bench
Muncy isn't starting Friday against the Marlins.
Muncy will take a seat after going 0-for-4 in Thursday's series finale with Philadelphia. Joc Pederson draws the start at first base and will bat leadoff in Muncy's stead.

Nick Senzel 3B | LAD
Reds' Nick Senzel: Remains out Friday
Senzel (hamstring) remains out of the lineup Friday against the Cardinals.
Senzel left Wednesday's game with a mild hamstring strain. He downplayed the problem and the Reds reportedly don't expect him to end up on the injured list, but he'll sit for the second straight game Friday. Jesse Winker again slides to center field, with Phillip Ervin in left.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Starts at second with Flores return
Escobar started at second base and went 1-for-4 in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Brewers.
Escobar got the start at the keystone despite the return of Wilmer Flores from the injured list Thursday. Manager Torey Lovullo outlined his likely lineup deployment with Flores on the active roster to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic: Flores will start whenever a left-hander is throwing. With a right-hander on the mound, as was the case Thursday, Escobar will draw the start at second base while Jake Lamb slots in at third.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Reaches base four times
Rendon went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, one RBI and a walk during Thursday's 13-4 win over the Braves.
Rendon tied pitcher Stephen Strasburg for the most hits in this assault on Atlanta pitching. He smacked a RBI double to center in the third inning and later scored after a hit during an eighth-inning rally. He now has multiple hits in four of his last five games to bring his OPS to 1.014 for the season.

Nick Senzel 3B | LAD
Reds' Nick Senzel: Expected to avoid IL
Manager David Bell said Senzel (hamstring) won't require a trip to the injured list, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Senzel exited Wednesday's loss to the Cubs with what is being described as a mild hamstring strain. While Bell didn't seem too worried about the injury -- an MRI revealed nothing serious, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com -- the skipper admitted that Senzel may miss a game or two as a result. Jesse Winker is starting in center field Thursday, with Phillip Ervin in left.

Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Retreats to bench
Riley is not starting Thursday against the Nationals.
Riley is slashing just .159/.224/.295 through 12 games this month, so he'll retreat to the bench for Thursday's series opener as Ender Inciarte (back) -- who was reinstated from the injured list Thursday -- picks up a start in the outfield in his stead. Even with Inciarte back in the fold, the 22-year-old Riley still figures to see the majority of playing time in left field, with Inciarte filling in as the team's' fourth outfielder, per Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Nick Senzel 3B | LAD
Reds' Nick Senzel: Not starting Thursday
Senzel (hamstring) is not starting Thursday against the Cardinals.
Senzel exited Wednesday's game against the Cubs with a hamstring injury, and the issue will force him to miss at least one game. Jesse Winker is covering center field in place of the 24-year-old Senzel, who should be considered day-to-day.

Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Reds' Kyle Farmer: Sent to 7-day IL
Farmer (concussion) was placed on the 7-day injured list Thursday.
Farmer suffered the injury after taking a ball off his mask during Tuesday's game against the Cubs. According to John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer, the utility man said he was feeling better Thursday, though the concussion was fairly severe, so the Reds figure to proceed cautiously with him. Juan Graterol and Ryan Lavarnway should handle catching duties while Farmer, Tucker Barnhart (oblique) and Curt Casali (knee) are all on the shelf.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Phillies' Jean Segura: Good to go Thursday
Segura (heel) will start at shortstop and bat second Thursday against the Dodgers, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Segura returns to the starting nine after spending the past two games on the bench while he managed a bruised left heel. The Phillies' decision to deploy Segura in a pinch-hitting role in Wednesday's loss hinted that the organization never viewed his heel issue as a major concern.
