Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Out again Sunday
LeMahieu is out of the lineup Sunday against the Brewers.
The Rockies will hold LeMahieu out during the season finale in order to protect his .348 average on the season, which will allow him to claim the NL batting title by a narrow margin over injured Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy (glute). Pat Valaika will man second base with LeMahieu sitting out.

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Out of lineup for finale Sunday
Rendon is not in the lineup for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Marlins, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
Rendon had previously started 12 straight games but will get the day off Sunday as the Nationals prepare for their opening playoff game against the Dodgers on Friday. Stephen Drew will replace him at third base for the finale, batting fifth for the Nationals.

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Out of Saturday's lineup
LeMahieu is out of the lineup Saturday against the Brewers, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.
He has just two at-bats in the last three games, as the Rockies are intent on getting LeMahieu the NL batting title. His batting average sits at .348 while Daniel Murphy's is at .347, and considering Murphy won't return until the postseason, it's plausible that LeMahieu won't receive another plate appearance this year in order to make sure he gets the batting crown. Daniel Descalso will start at the keystone and hit second.

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Smacks 20th homer in loss to Marlins
Rendon went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's 7-4 loss to the Marlins.
The slugging third baseman took Andrew Cashner deep in the fourth with a 410-foot shot, putting the first run of the game up for the Nationals. Rendon has now hit safely in six of his last seven games and has a pair of homers and seven RBI over that span. He's also just one homer shy of equaling the career-high 21 he smacked in 2014, while his 85 RBI already represent a personal best.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Back in action Friday
Segura (rib) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.
Segura was removed early from Thursday's game due to cramping around his rib cage, but the setback will not prevent him from taking the field. He will man second base and bat leadoff like he regularly does.

Cody Asche 3B | NYM
Phillies' Cody Asche: Not in Friday's lineup
Asche is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets, according to Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Asche started four of the last six games in left field, but he will open on the bench with Jimmy Paredes getting the start instead. Asche is 4-for-19 (.211) with an RBI and four runs scored over 11 games this month.

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Not starting again Thursday
LeMahieu is out of the lineup for the second straight night Thursday against the Giants, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
This looks like a continued effort from manager Walt Weiss to help LeMahieu in his chase for the National League batting title. Sitting the keystoner, who's hitting .349 along with 11 homers, 103 runs scored and 11 stolen bases, against a tough arm like Cueto seems to fit that plan. At least an NL batting title gives Colorado something to play -- or in this case, not play -- for. The Rockies deployed a similar plan for Justin Morneau down the stretch when he won the honor in 2014. He'll probably suit up at least once more before the end of the year, but his owners will have to check his daily status. On Thursday, Daniel Descalso will slide over to second and occupy the two hole.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Suffered cramp under rib cage
Segura left Thursday's game against the Nationals with a cramp under his left rib cage, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. The Diamondbacks don't believe the injury is serious but will re-evaluate Friday.
The 26-year-old put together a 1-for-3 afternoon with one run scored and his 32nd stolen base of his renaissance season, in which he boasts career highs of a .319 average, 20 home runs, 97 runs scored, 64 RBI and an .864 OPS. His fantasy owners still playing surely need him to help them in championship week but will have to wait for an update.

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Leaves with apparent injury
Segura was removed from Thursday's game with an apparent injury.
It's not clear what type of injury Segura suffered, but it occurred during an at-bat during the top of the seventh inning and he was unable to continue. Expect Segura's status to be updated when more details become available.

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Out of lineup Wednesday
LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
The Rockies are going with a decidedly left-handed lineup against San Francisco's Jeff Samardzija on Wednesday, plugging Daniel Descalso in at second base in place of LeMahieu. Samardzija has given up 41 XBH to left-handed batters this season, including 12 home runs. LeMahieiu figures to draw back in Thursday against Johnny Cueto.
