Senzel (ankle) is starting at designated hitter and batting seventh Thursday against the Cubs.

He sprained his ankle in Tuesday's game and was held out Wednesday, but Senzel is apparently able to hit and run the bases well enough to slot in as the DH for the series finale in Chicago. Senzel is hitting .219 with zero home runs and two steals over his last 10 games.

Escobar went 6-for-9 with two runs scored and two RBI across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader sweep of the Pirates.

All six hits were singles -- two in the matinee and four in the nightcap -- but Escobar was able to turn them into some production while batting eighth in the lineup in both contests. The 33-year-old has had a tough season, but he's at least finishing it with a flourish. Since moving back into the starting lineup nine games ago, he's batting .448 (13-for-29) with three homers and six RBI.

Vargas is not in Thursday's lineup against the Cardinals.

The 31-year-old infielder had started 26 games in a row, hitting .272/.309/.424 with three home runs and two steals in 92 at-bats over that stretch. Vargas rarely strikes out (10.8 K%) and provides strong defense at third base, shortstop and second base.

Suarez went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox.

Suarez recorded a two-run homer off righty starter Michael Kopech with two outs in the third and led off the seventh with another home run off lefty reliever Aaron Bummer. The third baseman has recorded at least one hit in eight of his last 11 games. The 31-year-old has been on fire in his last 19 games, recording eight home runs and a 1.067 OPS in 78 plate appearances.

Walls went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox.

Walls drove in the only run of the game on a fifth-inning single off righty starter Nick Pivetta, and the shortstop followed up with a double in the seventh. Walls has had even more trouble than usual generating power in his last 14 games with just one extra-base hit in 45 at-bats. The 26-year-old is serviceable at home, slashing .250/.323/.430 in 193 plate appearances, compared to .108/.216/.145 in 214 plate appearances away from Tampa Bay.

Sosa went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run, a double and three total RBI In Wednesday's 4-3 win over Miami.

Sosa put Philadelphia on the board with a two-run homer to left field in the third inning, and he plated the decisive run with a double in the seventh. He finished with his second three-hit performance of the campaign, with his previous such effort coming a week ago against Arizona. Sosa has gone 5-for-5 with his first two homers of the season, two doubles, and four RBI over his past two contests.

Muncy went 3-for-5 with one homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over San Francisco.

Muncy increased the Dodgers' lead to four with a three-run homer off righty reliever Zack Littell in the eighth. After a stretch of 13 games without a home run, the 32-year-old has now hit three in his last two games. The second baseman had gone four straight games without a hit but bounced back with what is now a modest five-game hit streak that includes back-to-back three-hit games.

Kreidler went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

A batter after fellow rookie Kerry Carpenter tied the game with a home run, Kreidler put the Tigers ahead with his first MLB long ball. The 24-year-old was called up from Triple-A Toledo earlier this month, and he's gone 4-for-20 across six games. Kreidler is one of Detroit's top prospects, and with Jonathan Schoop (ankle) out, the former should continue to see regular infield playing time in the final weeks of the season.

LeMahieu (toe) is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Twins, and manager Aaron Boone said a trip to the injured list is being considered, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The 34-year-old hasn't seen the field since Sunday due to the toe injury, and it appears he could be sidelined at least another week. Even if LeMahieu avoids the IL, the fact the move is being contemplated could mean the veteran infielder won't rejoin the lineup for a couple more days.

Jung will be called up from Triple-A Round Rock to make his major-league debut Friday against the Blue Jays, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Jung appeared likely to begin the 2022 season as the Rangers' primary third baseman, but he suffered a torn left labrum during spring training and wasn't cleared to rejoin the Triple-A club until early August. He's performed well since returning to action at Round Rock, slashing .274/.317/.526 with six home runs, 24 RBI, 14 runs and a stolen base over 22 games. The 24-year-old saw time at both corner-infield spots during a rehab assignment with the Rangers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate. The team's top prospect should have plenty of chances to earn playing time for the big-league club over the final month of the regular season, while Brad Miller will likely be placed on the 10-day injured list with a hip injury Friday.
