  • Matt Reynolds 3B | CIN

Reds' Matt Reynolds: Heads to bench

Reynolds is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

He'll be on the bench for the first time since May 19, ending a streak of nine consecutive starts in which he went 8-for-30 (.267 average) with two doubles, a triple, a stolen base, three walks, five RBI and four runs. With Cincinnati recently electing to option Colin Moran to Triple-A Louisville, Reynolds should be well-positioned for a near-everyday role in the Reds infield until Jonathan India (hamstring) is cleared to return from the injured list at some point in June.

  • Curtis Mead 1B | WAS

Rays' Curtis Mead: Back in action at Double-A

Mead (illness) has gone 2-for-9 with a walk in his two games for Double-A Montgomery since being reinstated from the affiliate's COVID-19-related injured list Thursday.

Mead missed just under two weeks of action after testing positive for the virus in mid-May. The 21-year-old corner infielder has been a standout performer for Montgomery in 2022, slashing .286/.386/.496 with four home runs and a stolen base.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Slugs game-winning homer

Hayes went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in a 4-2 victory over San Diego on Saturday.

Hayes singled in the third and fifth innings before connecting on a go-ahead three-run shot off Taylor Rogers in the top of the ninth for his second three-hit game this week. Surprisingly enough, the long ball was the 25-year-old's first, as his first 11 extra-base hits were all doubles, and his .092 isolated power ranks bottom 25 in the league. Hayes has never been a huge power threat with 11 homers in 120 games prior to this season.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Homers among three hits

Burger went 3-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

The White Sox offense was mostly shut down Saturday, as the team totaled only seven hits. Burger was responsible for nearly half of those, collecting a pair of singles and a fifth-inning solo homer that accounted for the team's only run. He had been on a cold streak entering the contest, going 1-for-12 over his previous four games.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Doubles, scores run in return

LeMahieu (wrist) went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Rays.

LeMahieu missed four games due to left wrist discomfort. He batted leadoff Saturday and played the full game at third base. He was in a bit of a skid prior to missing time, but he snapped the slump with his first-inning double Saturday. For the season, he's slashing .250/.327/.378 with three home runs, 17 RBI, 22 runs scored, 10 doubles and a stolen base in 165 plate appearances.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Swats long ball Saturday

Longoria went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Reds.

Longoria's sixth-inning blast got the Giants within a run, but that was as close as they got. After a slow start to the season following a finger injury that cost him a month to begin the year, he's started to pick it up at the plate with hits in five straight games. Longoria is 7-for-18 (.389 in that span). The third baseman owns a .239/.271/.478 slash line with three homers, seven RBI, four runs scored and two doubles in 48 plate appearances.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Blasts fourth homer

Farmer went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Giants.

Farmer's first-inning blast was all the run production the Reds could muster, but it ended up being enough. He's hit safely in eight straight games, going 14-for-28 (.500) with three of his four homers this season in that span. Overall, he sports a .254/.309/.420 slash line with 25 RBI, 16 runs scored, 11 doubles and two stolen bases in three attempts across 153 plate appearances.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Stuffs stat sheet in win

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, five RBI, three runs scored, a stolen base and a walk in Saturday's 8-1 win over the Tigers.

Ramirez hit a bases-loaded triple in the seventh inning and a two-run homer in the ninth to power the Guardians' offense as they pulled away with the lead late in the game. He's homered in four of his last seven contests, adding 14 RBI and six runs scored in that span. The third baseman has a robust .297/.391/.646 slash line with 12 homers, a major-league-leading 48 RBI, 27 runs scored and four stolen bases in 184 plate appearances. He's added four triples -- two shy of his career high -- and 11 doubles.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Returns to lineup

Hayes (back) will return to the lineup Saturday against San Diego, batting second and playing third base.

Hayes sat Friday due to a lower-back issue, but the injury was evidently a minor one, as he's back in action just one day later. He went 0-for-9 with four strikeouts in the two games immediately prior to the injury, which may indicate he wasn't quite at full strength.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Battling tennis elbow

Machado's absence from the lineup Saturday against Pittsburgh is due to tennis elbow, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Tennis elbow is a painful condition that can happen when tendons in the elbow are worn out by repetitive motions such as swinging a bat or a tennis racket. Thankfully for Machado and the Padres, the issue isn't expected to be a long-term problem, as the third baseman is merely considered day-to-day.
