Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Could be available Tuesday
Machado (ankle) is expected to return to the San Diego lineup or be available off the bench in Tuesday's game in Arizona, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Machado hasn't played since June 19 due to a sprained left ankle, but rather than placing the 29-year-old on the 10-day injured list, the Padres have chosen to evaluate him on a day-by-day basis. Though Jeff Passan of ESPN.com relayed Sunday that Machado hadn't even resumed running the bases since suffering the injury, Lin's report suggests that the five-time All-Star may have been able to take a step forward in the recovery process during his workout Monday. Clarity on Machado's status should come in the hours leading up to Tuesday's 9:40 p.m. ET opening pitch, when the Padres will reveal their lineup for the series opener.

Jonah Bride 3B | TEX
Athletics' Jonah Bride: Sidelined with strained shoulder
The Athletics placed Bride on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a strained right shoulder.
Bride suffered the injury Sunday in an outfield collision with teammate Chad Pinder in Oakland's win over the Royals. After sitting out Monday's series opener with the Yankees, Bride didn't show any major improvement, so the Athletics opted to deactivate him. Bride's absence should create a clear path for both Sheldon Neuse and Nick Allen to handle near-everyday roles in the Oakland infield.

Gio Urshela 3B | MIN
Twins' Gio Urshela: Sits front end of twin bill
Urshela is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader in Cleveland.
Jose Miranda will pick up the start at third base in the matinee, but Urshela should check back into the lineup for the second game of the day. Urshela, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs in the Twins' 11-1 win Monday in the series opener, had started in every game for Minnesota dating back to June 12.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Reaches base three times
LeMahieu went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, two walks and a stolen base in Monday's 9-5 win over the Athletics.
LeMahieu walked and scored in both the fifth and seventh innings Monday. He also stole his second base of the year and his first since May 2. After hitting .229 in May, the veteran infielder is 22-for-82 (.268) with 16 runs scored and six extra-base hits in 23 games this month. LeMahieu is slashing .261/.256/.403 on the year.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: Suspended five games
Rendon (wrist) received a five-game suspension for his role in Sunday's brawl with the Mariners, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Rendon is out for the season due to a wrist injury, so he will be forced to serve his suspension to begin the 2023 campaign. Rendon will also be prohibited from sitting in the Angels' dugout for the next seven games.

Ramon Urias 3B | STL
Orioles' Ramon Urias: Nearing return
Urias (oblique) took early batting practice and also fielded groundballs prior to Monday's game against the Mariners, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.
Urias has been out since June 10 but has ramped up his recovery significantly within the last week. Silver further reported that Urias is "closing in on a return," so he will presumably not require a rehab assignment. Prior to going down, Urias recorded a .225/.273/.387 line across 188 plate appearances while serving as Baltimore's primary third baseman.

Matt Duffy 3B | TEX
Angels' Matt Duffy: Lands on injured list
Duffy was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday due to lower-back spasms.
Duffy exited Sunday's game against Seattle due to the injury, which is evidently serious enough to knock him out for at least 10 days. Matt Thaiss was recalled to take his place on the roster while David MacKinnon is starting at third base in his place.

Jake Burger 1B | TEX
White Sox's Jake Burger: Day off Monday
Burger isn't starting Monday's game against the Angels.
Burger started in the last five games and went 4-for-19 with a triple, two RBI, a run and five strikeouts. Josh Harrison will shift to the hot corner while Lenyn Sosa starts at second base Monday.

Brian Anderson RF | ATL
Marlins' Brian Anderson: Reinstated from 10-day IL
Anderson (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. He'll start at third base and bat seventh in the Marlins' series opener in St. Louis, according to Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald.
Anderson spent just under a month on the injured list but began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday and went 1-for-10 with a walk and five strikeouts over three minor-league games. He should see plenty of playing time at the hot corner now that he's been activated, but Jon Berti's strong play recently has likely earned him his fair share of at-bats. Anderson slashed .267/.374/.410 with two homers, 21 runs, six RBI and a stolen base over 32 games prior to his absence.

Tyler Nevin 3B | ATH
Orioles' Tyler Nevin: Remains on bench Monday
Nevin isn't starting Monday's game against the Mariners, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Nevin went just 1-for-16 with two runs, five walks and five strikeouts over his last six games and will be out of the lineup for a second consecutive matchup. Jonathan Arauz is starting at the hot corner and batting eighth.
