  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Launches 30th home run

Devers went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and another RBI during Thursday's win over the Twins.

Devers cranked a 396-footer against Kyle Barraclough in the sixth inning to tally his 30th long ball of the year. The 24-year-old, who is batting .276/.352/.550 on the season, is within arm's reach of surpassing his career high of 32 homers set during his 2019 campaign.

  • Twins' Willians Astudillo: Homers in loss

Astudillo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Thursday's loss to the Red Sox.

Astudillo got the Twins on the board with a 371-foot shot against Chris Sale in the fifth inning. The 29-year-old has battled for playing time this season, hitting .257/.281/.421 with seven long balls across 61 games. Mitch Garver (back) and Ryan Jeffers (heel) are both nursing injuries, which could open up more catching opportunities for Astudillo.

  • Edmundo Sosa LF | PHI

Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Homers in loss

Sosa went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in an 11-7 loss to Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Drawing the start at shortstop batting seventh Thursday, Sosa hit home run No. 4 on the season, while also adding an infield single in the second inning. Sosa has now drawn a start in four of his past five games, two of which he has collected multiple hits.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Smashes home run

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Pirates on Thursday.

Arenado opened the scoring Thursday night with a first inning, two-run home run off Pirates starter Mitch Keller. The veteran third-baseman has collected just one multi-hit outing over his past nine games, while this was his first home run since Aug. 15 against Kansas City.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Returns to lineup

Urshela is starting at third base and hitting eighth Thursday against the Athletics.

Urshela was activated from the injured list earlier in the day and will now return to his starting role at third base. He was sidelined for over three weeks by a strained hamstring, and he participated in two rehab games prior to being activated. Rougned Odor is out of the lineup Thursday and should see a dip in playing time moving forward due to Urshela's return.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Dealing with back tightness

Muncy is not in Thursday's lineup against the Padres due to back tightness, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Muncy is expected back in the lineup Friday against Colorado, so his absence is seemingly a precaution after the team's 16-inning game Wednesday. Billy McKinney enters the lineup at first base while hitting seventh.

  • Edmundo Sosa LF | PHI

Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Work picking up

Sosa will start at shortstop and bat seventh Thursday against the Pirates, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

Sosa will crack the lineup for the fourth time in five games, with three of his starts coming at shortstop. At this stage, Sosa may have played himself into a timeshare in the middle infield with Paul DeJong, who is sitting for the third time in five games and is slashing a meager .229/.306/.375 since the All-Star break.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Reinstated from injured list

Urshela (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Urshela spent over three weeks on the injured list due to a left hamstring strain, but he recently made two rehab appearances at Double-A Somerset and went 4-for-8 with a double and three runs. He's appeared in just 16 major-league games since the start of July and has slashed .286/.314/.408 with a home run, three doubles, nine RBI and five runs during that time.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Retreats to bench

Hayes isn't starting Thursday against the Cardinals.

Hayes will get a rare day off after he recorded hits in each of his last five appearances and went 5-for-20 with a triple, a double, four runs, three RBI and a stolen base during that time. Wilmer Difo will start at the hot corner and bat fifth.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Resting Thursday

Moncada will not start Thursday's game against Toronto.

Per James Fegan of The Athletic, Moncada tweaked his wrist Wednesday but checked out fine, so his absence is simply a routine off day. Leury Garcia takes over at third base.
