  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Fifth career multi-homer game

Jung went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Colorado.

Jung got Texas on the board in the first inning with a two-run home run off Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland, later tacking on an insurance run with another homer in the eighth. It was the fifth career multi-homer effort by Jung, who now has five extra-base hits through 12 games in May. The 27-year-old third baseman has also hit four long balls over his last seven games, hitting .360 with seven RBI over 25 at-bats in that span.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

    Cubs' Jon Berti: Idle Tuesday

Berti is not in the Cubs' lineup against the Marlins on Tuesday.

Berti has been sitting for roughly one game per series since April 27. He will likely start in Wednesday's rubber match after playing in Monday's 5-2 victory over Miami. Nicky Lopez will start at third base and bat ninth with Berti on the bench.

  • Jace Jung 2B | DET

Tigers' Jace Jung: Back in lineup Tuesday

Jung is starting at third base and batting eighth in Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

After starting three straight games, Jung got Monday off, but he'll return to the lineup a day later. The 24-year-old is starting to emerge as Detroit's top option at the hot corner, at least against righties. The eventual return of Matt Vierling (shoulder) could squeeze Jung a bit, though he should maintain a regular role for now.

  • Caleb Durbin 3B | BOS

Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Heads to bench

Durbin is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Guardians.

This is Durbin's first day off since April 24. He is hitting .118 with a double, zero home runs, zero steals and a 2:2 K:BB in 11 games in May. Andruw Monasterio is starting at third base and batting eighth.

  • Reds' Santiago Espinal: Moves up to two hole

Espinal will start at third base and bat second in Tuesday's contest against the White Sox.

Usual No. 2 hitter Matt McLain has been demoted to the No. 8 spot in the lineup. Espinal has hit second a handful of times this season but has made most of his starts much lower in the batting order, including hitting ninth in the Reds' previous game Sunday.

  • Miguel Vargas 2B | CHW

White Sox's Miguel Vargas: Back in lineup Tuesday

Vargas (calf) will start at third base and bat second in Tuesday's game versus the Reds.

Vargas missed the previous two contests with a right calf injury, but he's ready to go for the series opener in Cincinnati. With Vargas handling third base, Josh Rojas is shifting to left field for the White Sox on Tuesday.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

    Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Activated Tuesday

LeMahieu (calf/hip) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game in Seattle.

LeMahieu will switch spots with Oswaldo Cabrera (fractured ankle), who was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. LeMahieu should serve as the Yankees' primary third baseman in the short term, but at 36 and coming off three straight years of declining production, he may not be able to hold the job indefinitely. He hit .204 with a .269 OBP, two home runs and zero steals in 228 plate appearances last year, although he did log a 1.093 OPS on his rehab assignment, thanks in part to a .500 BABIP.

  • Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Diagnosed with fractured ankle

The Yankees placed Cabrera on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left ankle fracture.

The diagnosis doesn't come as a surprise after Cabrera had to be taken off the field in an ambulance in Monday's game versus the Mariners. It's not clear at this point how long Cabrera might be sidelined, but certainly the absence will be a lengthy one. DJ LeMahieu (calf/hip) is taking Cabrera's spot on the roster and could receive the bulk of the reps at third base in Cabrera's spot, as well.

  • Trey Lipscomb 3B | WAS

Nationals' Trey Lipscomb: Recalled from Triple-A

The Nationals recalled Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Lipscomb has played some left field for Rochester this season in addition to the infield and will operate in a reserve role for the Nationals. He will likely be up for only a few days while Luis Garcia is on the paternity list.

  • Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Goes down with leg injury

Cabrera left Monday's game against the Mariners due to a left leg injury, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

Cabrera was injured on a play at the plate in the top of the ninth inning as he attempted an awkward slide. He was eventually taken off the field in an ambulance after being attended to by the team's training staff. The Yankees later reported that Cabrera was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation, per Kuty.
