  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Goes deep again

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.

Ramirez belted his 23rd home run of the year in the first inning Sunday. He's gone deep in two straight games and has 10 long balls over his last 26 appearances. Ramirez has also collected multiple hits in six of his last 10 appearances, vaulting his season average up to .302. He now owns a .910 OPS with 46 extra-base hits and 61 RBI through 108 games.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Hits in cage, gets reps in field

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that Bohm (rib) fielded ground balls and hit in the batting cage prior to Sunday's game against the Tigers, MLB.com reports.

Thomson noted that Bohm is pain-free as he works his way back from a fractured left rib and is drawing closer to beginning a rehab assignment. Since Bohm was placed on the injured list July 19, the Phillies have been getting by with a combination of Otto Kemp and Edmundo Sosa at third base.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Set for further testing

Manager Brian Snitker said after Sunday's 4-2 win over the Reds in the MLB Speedway Classic in Bristol, Tenn. that Riley (abdomen) will be evaluated in the next day or two before Atlanta decides whether he requires a stint on the injured list, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

After striking out in his lone plate appearance in the game that first started Saturday before it was resumed in the bottom of the first inning Sunday, Riley played two innings in the field before he was lifted for pinch hitter Luke Williams the next time his turn in the batting order came up in the top of the third. Atlanta later relayed that Riley was pulled from the game due to lower abdominal pain, an injury he appeared to suffer when he made a diving tag on Elly De La Cruz to prevent a run in the bottom of the first. Given that Riley was previously on the IL from July 12 through July 25 due to a lower abdominal strain, Riley could be dealing with a related setback that will result in another multi-week shutdown. If Atlanta decides to deactivate Riley, Nacho Alvarez would likely be recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to take over as the team's everyday third baseman.

  • Vidal Brujan SS | NYM

Orioles' Vidal Brujan: Claimed by Baltimore

The Orioles claimed Brujan off waivers from the Cubs on Sunday, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

The 27-year-old was designated for assignment Wednesday and will now go back on the 40-man roster for a new organization in the Orioles, who shipped off a number of players ahead of the trade deadline. Brujan appeared in 36 games with Chicago this season and maintained a .222/.234/.289 slash line in 47 plate appearances. He's likely to fill a utility role for Baltimore.

  • Otto Kemp LF | PHI

Phillies' Otto Kemp: On bench for series finale

Kemp is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Edmundo Sosa will step in at third base while Kemp sits for the second time in the series. Kemp has maintained a .773 OPS since the All-Star break and still looks to be the Phillies' preferred option at the hot corner while the team waits for Alec Bohm (rib) to return from the injured list.

  • Zach McKinstry 2B | DET

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Idle against lefty

McKinstry is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

The left-handed-hitting McKinstry will take a seat for the second time in the series while the Phillies send another southpaw (Cristopher Sanchez) to the hill. With McKinstry on the bench, Javier Baez will cover shortstop, and Matt Vierling will serve as the Tigers' starting center fielder.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | KC

White Sox's Josh Rojas: Nabbing fourth straight start

Rojas will start at second base and will bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Angels.

He will cover second base Sunday while Chase Meidroth (thumb) is on the bench for the third game in a row, but Rojas could be in store for regular playing time at third base once Meidroth rejoins the lineup. Rojas had started in each of the previous three contests, going 2-for-10 with a solo home run, a double and a walk.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

Angels' Yoan Moncada: On bench in Moore's return

Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

After missing three straight games due to a hand injury, Moncada returned to the lineup Wednesday and went 1-for-9 with a walk and a run while starting at third base in each of the subsequent three contests. With the Angels bringing back Christian Moore (thumb) from the injured list Sunday, he'll step in at second base while Luis Rengifo shifts over to the hot corner, leaving no room in the lineup for Moncada. In an effort to open up steady at-bats for all of Moore, Moncada and Rengifo, the Angels could opt for something resembling a three-man committee between the second- and third-base spots for the foreseeable future.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Sitting again Sunday

Jung (calf) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Jung finds himself on the bench for a fourth consecutive game as he continues to manage calf soreness. Josh Smith will pick up another start at the hot corner, opening up first base for Rowdy Tellez.

  • Matt Shaw RF | CHC

Cubs' Matt Shaw: Getting Sunday off

Shaw is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Shaw had started at third base in seven straight games, but he'll cede the hot corner to Willi Castro on Sunday. Since the All-Star break, Shaw has produced a 1.014 OPS, but he'll need to maintain that improved level of production to stave off Castro for a regular spot in the lineup.
