Abraham Toro 1B | BOS
Athletics' Abraham Toro: Battling sore shoulder
Toro has been dealing with shoulder soreness ever since Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Toro's shoulder injury helps explain why he will be missing his second consecutive game Wednesday versus the Royals. The Athletics are still optimistic that the 27-year-old infielder will be able to avoid a trip to the injured list, but he will see a doctor Wednesday in order to determine the best way to approach his injury. Tyler Nevin figures to operate as Oakland's main third baseman while Toro recovers.

Oliver Dunn 2B | CHW
Brewers' Oliver Dunn: Dispatched to Nashville
The Brewers optioned Dunn to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Playing time has been hard to come across recently for Dunn, and the emergence of Joey Ortiz hasn't helped. The 26-year-old Dunn has slashed .221/.282/.316 through 104 plate appearances in the big leagues this year and will now head back to the minors to get back on track. Tyler Black was recalled from Nashville in a corresponding move.

Danny Mendick 3B | CHW
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Heading back to bench
Mendick is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.
Mendick started at second base in each of the last three games, but the White Sox faced two lefty starters and a lefty primary pitcher in those contests. He'll head back to the bench Wednesday while the lefty-hitting Nicky Lopez steps back in at the keystone against Astros right-hander Hunter Brown.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Aiming for Saturday return
Arenado (elbow) said after Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins that he expects to return to the lineup Saturday versus the Giants in St. Louis, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.
Arenado was lifted for a pinch runner in the top of the eighth inning after he took a 94 mile-per-hour sinker to his right elbow in his fourth plate appearance of the afternoon. Before departing, Arenado went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Though Arenado has been diagnosed with a bruised right elbow after initial X-rays returned negative, he noted that the pitch hit him in a nerve in the elbow that caused his hand to cramp up. Based on his postgame comments, Arenado already seems to be ruling himself out for Thursday's series opener with the Giants at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala., but he's counting on being ready to go coming out of Friday's off day.

Jose Miranda 3B | MIN
Twins' Jose Miranda: Getting day off
Miranda is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Miranda will head to the bench Wednesday, but he should have a relatively firm grasp on a near-everyday role for the Twins after Minnesota recently optioned Alex Kirilloff (back) to the minors before reversing the transaction and placing him on the 10-day injured list. The 26-year-old has earned his way into steadier playing time by maintaining an .875 OPS through his first 15 games of June.

Ernie Clement SS | TOR
Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Hitting bench Wednesday
Clement is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
Clement had started at third base in each of the past three games, but he'll give way to Addison Barger for the series finale. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has paced the Blue Jays with 33 starts at the hot corner this season, but he's likely to see most of his playing time at shortstop for the foreseeable future while Bo Bichette (calf) is on the injured list. Rather than leaning on Clement as its everyday third baseman during Bichette's absence, Toronto could opt to use a committee of Clement, Barger and Orelvis Martinez at the position.

Jordan Westburg 2B | BAL
Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Out of lineup Wednesday
Westburg (hip) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
Westburg was forced from Tuesday's 4-2 loss with a bruised left hip following a collision on the infield with Yankees outfielder Juan Soto. He's considered day-to-day, and it's possible he'll be available off the bench for Wednesday's contest. Ramon Urias will fill in for Westburg at third base.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Suffers right elbow contusion
The Cardinals announced that Arenado was removed in the top of the eighth inning of Wednesday's game against the Marlins due to a right elbow contusion.
Initial X-rays on Arenado's elbow appear to have returned negative, but he'll undergo further medical evaluation as the Cardinals look to ascertain that he's not dealing with anything more than a bruise. Before he was lifted from the game for a pitch runner after being hit in the elbow by a 94 mile-per-hour sinker during his fourth plate appearance of the day, Arenado went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Leaves following HBP on elbow
Arenado was removed from Wednesday's game in Miami after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored prior to exiting the game.
A Huascar Brazoban offering in the top of the eighth inning caught Arenado, who went down in a heap. He looked to be in considerable pain and eventually exited the field with a trainer. The Cardinals should have more on his condition shortly.
