  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Angels' Mike Moustakas: Hits go-ahead blast

Moustakas went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Giants.

Moustakas has multiple hits in five of his eight games in August, going 11-for-32 (.344) in that span. He's added two homers, four doubles and 10 RBI. The infielder is hitting .285 since he joined the Angels in a trade from the Rockies. Overall, he's at a .278/.337/.469 slash line with 11 homers, 40 RBI, 39 runs scored and 14 doubles through 81 contests. He's yet to attempt a stolen base this season.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

    Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Scratched Wednesday

LeMahieu was scratched from the Yankees' lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the White Sox due to right calf tightness, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

LeMahieu is slashing .364/.440/.455 since the beginning of August, but his injury will keep him out for at least Wednesday's game. There's no word yet on how severe LeMahieu's injury is, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day until the Yankees provide more information. In the meantime, Isiah Kiner-Falefa will slide over to third base and Oswaldo Cabrera will enter the lineup to man shortstop.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Return not imminent

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that Walls (oblique) is "still a ways away" from a return, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

A left oblique strain forced Walls to the injured list back on July 22 and there is still no timetable for his return to major-league action. The switch hitter has swiped 20 bags this season and he's taken a step forward with the bat, with a 95 wRC+ putting him just a little below league average by that metric.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Undergoes thumb surgery

Jung underwent surgery Wednesday to repair the fracture in his left thumb, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan inserted a plate and screws into the thumb to stabilize the fracture, which Jung sustained while trying to field a line drive this past Sunday against the Marlins. The power-hitting 25-year-old third baseman is expected to miss around six weeks, but the hope is that he can return to the Rangers' active roster before the end of the 2023 regular season.

  • Diamondbacks' Emmanuel Rivera: Moves into short-side platoon role

Rivera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

After starting at third base against lefties Dallas Keuchel and Julio Urias in the Diamondbacks' last two games and going 0-for-7 with four strikeouts, Rivera will move to the bench Wednesday for the second straight game in which Arizona has opposed a right-hander. Trade-deadline pickup Jace Peterson will get the nod at the hot corner against Dodgers righty Bobby Miller and appears to have moved into the strong side of a platoon with Rivera at third base.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Not starting, but may be available

Urias (heel) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, though he believes he'll be available off the bench, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Urias admitted he's still dealing with some soreness in his left heel, so the Orioles seem to be keeping him out of the starting nine as a precaution after he was removed from Tuesday's 7-6 loss. The 29-year-old said he expects to re-enter the lineup Wednesday, though the Orioles could look to use him as a designated hitter to keep him off his feet as much as possible.

  • Diamondbacks' Emmanuel Rivera: Sits amid slump

Rivera is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Jace Peterson will start at third base and bat sixth versus the Dodgers and right-hander Bobby Miller. Rivera has gone 0-for-17 with no walks and six strikeouts since the calendar flipped to August.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Takes seat Wednesday

Madrigal is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets.

Jeimer Candelario is playing third base and Patrick Wisdom will cover first base. Nico Hoerner is at second. Madrigal has produced three multi-hit games since returning July 29 from a right hamstring strain, but he carries an overall .686 OPS with one homer and eight steals across 207 plate appearances this year.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Earns 18th steal

Garcia went 1-for-5 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Red Sox.

Garcia extended his hitting streak to 12 games, a span in which he's gone 15-for-51 (.294). He's also racked up eight strikeouts in that span, but his 20.4 percent strikeout rate for the season has been fine for his contact-based approach. He's slashing .278/.322/.379 with four home runs, 18 steals, 38 RBI and 38 runs scored over 81 contests.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

    Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Homers Tuesday

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss against the Rays.

Arenado opened the scoring Tuesday with a solo homer off Zach Eflin in the second inning. The All-Star third baseman has hits in six straight contests, going 8-for-25 (.320) with a pair of home runs in that span. Overall, Arenado's slashing .282/.330/.513 with 24 homers, 80 RBI and 52 runs scored across 460 plate appearances this season.
