  • Mark Vientos 3B | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Late scratch Sunday

Vientos (undisclosed) was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Mariners, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Vientos was originally set to start at third base and bat eighth Sunday, but he's been scratched for an undisclosed reason. More information on his status will likely come in the near future, but in the meantime, Jose Iglesias will slide over to the hot corner while Ben Gamel enters the lineup in right field after some lineup shuffling.

  • Blue Jays' Luis De Los Santos: Headed back to Triple-A

De Los Santos is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, Julia Kreuz of MLB.com reports.

De Los Santos secured his first career major-league hit in Sunday's 8-4 loss against the Athletics, finishing his day 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. He's now set to return to Triple-A as Toronto continues to evaluate the talent they have in their lower levels.

  • Jose Tena 3B | WAS

Nationals' Jose Tena: X-rays return negative

Tena (thumb) had X-rays come back negative after leaving Sunday's game against the Angels and is dealing with a fingernail issue, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

The 23-year-old made his second straight start at third base Sunday but exited during the fourth inning when he was struck in the right hand by a hard grounder. Tena has avoided a serious injury and should be considered day-to-day.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Knocks double in first rehab game

Muncy (oblique) went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI in a rehab game with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.

Muncy performed well in his first game action since May 15. The third baseman is working his way back from an oblique injury and subsequent rehab that progressed slowly and at times was described as "stagnant." He'll need at least a handful more games in the minors to knock off some rust before the Dodgers are ready to bring him back from the 60-day injured list.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Out of Sunday's lineup

Candelario is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Candelario will sit after going 0-for-3 on Saturday to end a seven-game hit streak. Jonathan India will serve as the designated hitter while Santiago Espinal starts at second base.

  • Marlins' Emmanuel Rivera: Filling smaller role

Rivera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Rivera's absence is his fourth in Miami's past six games, with both of his starts during that stretch coming against left-handed pitchers. Jake Burger is receiving more run at third base and Jesus Sanchez at designated hitter, which has opened up right field for Derek Hill, though the latter two have swapped those positions Sunday.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | BAL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Not starting Sunday

Urias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Urias started the previous three games and will receive Sunday off after going 3-for-11 with a walk, a homer, two RBI and three runs in that span. Coby Mayo is starting at third base and batting seventh in the series finale at Tampa Bay.

  • Darell Hernaiz 3B | OAK

Athletics' Darell Hernaiz: Back on bench Sunday

Hernaiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Hernaiz had started in each of the last three games, but he'll likely move back into more of a utility role after Seth Brown returned from the paternity list Saturday. In Sunday's series finale, the Athletics will roll out an infield of Brown at first base, Zack Gelof at second base, Max Schuemann at shortstop and Abraham Toro at third base, and that will likely be the team's preferred configuration against right-handed pitching going forward.

  • Jose Tena 3B | WAS

Nationals' Jose Tena: Exits early with thumb injury

Tena was removed in the fourth inning of Sunday's game against the Angels due to an apparent right thumb injury, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. He went hitless in his lone at-bat before departing.

Making a second straight start at third base after he went 2-for-4 with two RBI in his Nationals debut Saturday, Tena's day was cut short when he took a hard grounder off his throwing hand. The play went down as an error, and Tena was immediately lifted from the game in favor of Ildemaro Vargas while his thumb was bleeding profusely. The Nationals should have an update on Tena's condition later Sunday.

  • Matthew Lugo 3B | LAA

Angels' Matthew Lugo: Out with undisclosed injury

Lugo, who is on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Salt Lake due to an undisclosed injury, has not played since Aug. 2.

He made a strong first impression, going 2-for-5 with a home run and a double in his first game for the Bees after getting traded to the Angels from the Red Sox at the deadline as part of the return for reliever Luis Garcia. However, Lugo has not seen the field since that debut game. Depending on the injury, the trade should make it easier for the 23-year-old left fielder to get a look in the majors either late this season or early next season. He is slashing .287/.376/.578 with a 23.6 percent strikeout rate, a 10.2 percent walk rate, 17 home runs and 16 steals in 79 games split between Double-A and Triple-A.
