Angels manager Phil Nevin said Sunday that Rendon (groin) is likely to return from the 10-day injured list Tuesday or Wednesday versus the Cubs, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Nevin implied that Wednesday is a more likely for Rendon's return than Tuesday, but regardless, the Angels' everyday third baseman looks poised to rejoin the mix in the coming days. Rendon has been on the shelf since May 15 with a left groin strain, and he appears set to bypass a rehab assignment prior to being activated. Rendon was playing well in the weeks prior to his injury, and he should go back to hitting in the middle of the Los Angeles lineup upon his return.

Bat is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Baty started the past four games and will head to the bench Sunday after he went 1-for-14 with seven strikeouts during that stretch. Eduardo Escobar will handle the hot corner in his place.

Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Anderson has gone 2-for-17 across his past five games and will head to the bench for Sunday's contest. Blake Perkins will handle right field in his place and bat sixth.

Bride is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Marlins.

Bride will take a seat for the second straight game, with the Marlins having started right-handed pitchers on both occasions. Jace Peterson will man the hot corner and hit seventh Sunday in place of Bride, who may be relegated to a short-side platoon role.

Sosa is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Sosa is 2-for-20 in his past eight contests and will take a seat Sunday for the second time in Philadelphia's last three games. Drew Ellis is starting at the hot corner in the series finale.

Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Moncada started the previous five games but will head to the bench after going 1-for-17 with two walks and eight strikeouts during that stretch. Elvis Andrus will shift to the hot corner while Romy Gonzalez starts at second base.

Devers went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Rays in the first game of a doubleheader. He went 0-for-2 with two walks in the nightcap.

Devers worked an eight-pitch walk right before Justin Turner delivered a three-run double in a pivotal six-run sixth inning during the afternoon game. Devers has always been willing take a base on balls during his career, but the third baseman hadn't exhibited that trait for much of 2023... until recently. Devers sat on a career-low 4.6 walk rate to start the week but has walked five times in his last four games.

Castro will start at second base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Castro appeared to benefit from a spike in playing time last week while Carlos Santana was day-to-day with a spinal injury, but Castro nows finds himself in the lineup for the second time in three games alongside Santana. With two-hit efforts in three of his last four starts, Castro may have pushed himself back into a near-everyday role in the infield for the time being. Meanwhile, Ji Hwan Bae has made three of his last four starts in center field to create an opening for Castro at the keystone.

Hayes went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Cardinals.

He got the Pirates on the board in the fifth inning by taking Jordan Montgomery deep, marking the first time in Hayes' career he's homered in back-to-back games. The 26-year-old third baseman has only four homers on the season and just 22 in 311 career big-league games despite athleticism that made him a first-round pick in 2015, but it is possible his power is beginning to emerge -- his 13.0 degree launch angle, 39.8 percent flyball rate and 92nd percentile average exit velocity are all career highs, pointing to a player who is making a concerted effort to reach the seats more often.

Freeman went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Twins.

Freeman entered the game after Amed Rosario exited with left knee soreness. Playing time has been sparse for Freeman since his May 6 recall -- this was just the ninth game he's appeared in since that date. He's batting .286 with two doubles, two walks and three runs scored through 30 plate appearances on the year. If Rosario is forced to miss time, some combination of Freeman, Gabriel Arias and Brayan Rocchio would likely compete to fill the void at shortstop.
