Maikel Garcia 3B | KC
Royals' Maikel Garcia: Bound for minors
The Royals optioned Garcia to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.
With Kansas City welcoming Hunter Dozier (personal) back from the paternity list, Garcia will head down to the minors to play on a more regular basis. Across multiple brief stints in the big leagues this season, Garcia has gone 7-for-22 with two RBI and a run over nine games.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Returning to action Thursday
LeMahieu (toe) is starting at second base and batting leadoff Thursday against the Blue Jays.
The 34-year-old sat out the last three games after exiting Sunday's contest with inflammation in his right big toe, but he appeared as a pinch hitter Wednesday and is now back in the starting nine. LeMahieu was mired in a 1-for-18 slump prior to the absence and will look to get back on track after receiving a couple days off to get healthy.

Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Sitting out day game
Wisdom is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.
Wisdom will take a seat for the day game after a night game, paving the way for P.J. Higgins to draw a third consecutive start after he went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Nationals. Meanwhile, Wisdom went 0-for-4 on Wednesday, dropping his season average to .219. Even if Higgins gains more traction as an everyday player at first base for the Cubs, Wisdom would still likely have potential paths to steady at-bats at third base or designated hitter.

Emmanuel Rivera 3B | BAL
Diamondbacks' Emmanuel Rivera: Resting Thursday
Rivera is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants.
Rivera started the last five games, but he went just 2-for-15 (.133) over the last four, so manager Torey Lovullo decided to hold him out Thursday. Stone Garrett will enter the lineup in Rivera's place.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Two RBI, two runs in win
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a hit-by-pitch in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Tigers.
Ramirez was plunked and scored the opening run in the third inning. The star third baseman then stepped up in an eighth-inning rally, with his two-run double being the go-ahead hit. He's struggled a bit in August, batting .242 with one home run, though he's added 14 RBI and six runs scored in 17 contests. For the season, Ramirez is slashing .281/.351/.534 with 22 homers, 98 RBI, 65 runs scored and 14 stolen bases through 493 plate appearances.

Jonah Bride 3B | TEX
Athletics' Jonah Bride: Takes seat Thursday
Bride is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.
Sheldon Neuse will pick up a start in the infield in place of Bride, who went 2-for-12 with three walks and two RBI while cracking the lineup in each of the past four games at either second base or first base. With Seth Brown seeing more time in the outfield of late with Ramon Laureano (oblique) on the injured list and with veterans Jed Lowrie, Stephen Piscotty and Elvis Andrus having recently been released, Bride should have a fairly clear path to a near-everyday role the rest of the way.

Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Hits heroic grand slam
Donaldson went 1-for-4 with grand slam scored in Wednesday's victory over the Rays.
Donaldson hit a walk-off grand slam off lefty reliever Jalen Beeks with nobody out in the 10th inning. The 36-year-old is significantly better on the road with a .817 OPS and nine home runs in 192 at-bats compared to a .554 OPS and three home runs in 158 at-bats at home. Add this third baseman to the list of struggling Yankees as he has a .138 batting average and .241 slugging percentage in 29 at-bats during his last eight games.

Jose Miranda 3B | MIN
Twins' Jose Miranda: Swats 12th homer
Miranda went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Royals.
His first-inning blast off Daniel Lynch proved to be the game-winning hit, thanks to the efforts of Tyler Mahle (shoulder) and the Minnesota bullpen. Miranda is putting together a strong August, batting .322 (19-for-59) through 15 games to boost his slash line on the season to .286/.332/.473 with 12 homers and 51 RBI in 79 contests.

Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN
Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Launches two-run homer
Suarez went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 11-7 victory over the Angels.
Suarez contributed two of Seattle's 11 runs in Wednesday's game thanks to a fifth-inning home run that also brought around Mitch Haniger. It was Suarez's 20th homer of the year and his fourth this month. The third baseman's lone hit in the game was his first since Aug. 13. Suarez hit .257 in June, .218 in July, but is batting only .170 so far in August. He struck out twice in Wednesday's game, a problem that has plagued him throughout the year. He has more strikeouts than hits and walks combined this season.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Giants' J.D. Davis: Continues big August
Davis went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
Davis' solo shot in the sixth inning gave the Giants a one-run lead, but Arizona stormed back in the eighth to pull out the win. The long ball was Davis' fourth in 12 games since he joined the Giants in a trade Aug. 2. The veteran is slashing .364/.447/.758 with his new club.
