  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Homers in third straight game

Riley went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Mets.

The third baseman spoiled Max Scherzer's shutout bid by going yard in the seventh inning, but it was the only offense Atlanta generated on the night. Riley is notoriously streaky, but he's locked in right now -- he's hit safely in seven straight games and has homered in three straight, boosting his slash line on the season to .282/.348/.564 with 24 home runs, 51 runs and 57 RBI through 86 contests.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Tuesday return expected

Devers (back) is expected to return to the Boston lineup for Tuesday's game at Tampa Bay, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Devers missed a third consecutive game Monday due to back discomfort. Boston manager Alex Cora is not sure if Devers will start back-to-back days during the current series against Tampa Bay due to the turf at Tropicana Field.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Tallies fourth homer

Moncada went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Monday against the White Sox.

Moncada took Cal Quantrill yard in the third inning to record his fourth home run of the season. He has at least one hit in eight of 12 starts since returning from the injured list July 1, but he is still hitting just .216 with seven RBI in that span. Moncada has shown few signs of breaking out of a season-long slump, as he's maintained a .191/.236/.303 line across 161 plate appearances on the campaign.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Registers steal Monday

McMahon went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Padres.

All four of McMahon's steals this season have come in July, after he went 0-for-2 on the basepaths in the first three months of the campaign. While he didn't notch a hit Monday, he's gone 8-for-33 (.242) with a home run in 10 games this month. That's just a little better than his .235 average for the season, and he's added a .692 OPS with 40 RBI, 34 runs scored, 13 doubles and two triples through 334 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Swats 15th homer

Machado went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-5 win over the Rockies.

Machado has homered three times in his last five games, and he's up to 15 long balls this year. He took Rockies reliever Lucas Gilbreath deep in the seventh inning Monday. Since the start of July, Machado has gone 5-for-33 (.152), and his last multi-hit effort was June 18, which was a day before he suffered an ankle injury that cost him nine games. The recent slump has dropped his slash line to .310/.385/.538 through 77 contests this year.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Nearing return to action

Longoria (oblique) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Thursday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Longoria has been sidelined since July 6 due to a left oblique strain, but he's nearing game action and will likely return shortly after the All-Star break if all goes according to plan. A more concrete timetable for his return should come to light once he's officially started a rehab stint.

  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

Athletics' Jonah Bride: Closing in on rehab assignment

Bride (shoulder) could begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Bride has been sidelined since colliding with teammate Chad Pinder in a late-June game, but he is close to getting back on the field. Bride both hit and threw Monday, and if he responds well his next step will likely be a stint with Triple-A Las Vegas.

  • Edmundo Sosa 2B | PHI

Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Playing time on upswing

Sosa will start at third base and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Phillies.

With Nolan Arenado getting a rare day off, Sosa will fill in at the hot corner for what will be his fifth start in six contests. Sosa has benefited in part from Brendan Donovan (illness) sitting out the last three games, so Sosa will be at risk of falling back into a utility role whenever the rookie is cleared to rejoin the lineup.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Day off Monday

Arenado isn't starting Monday's game against the Phillies, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Arenado is getting a rare day off after he slashed .405/.488/.730 with three home runs, a triple, a double, six RBI and five runs over his last 10 games. Edmundo Sosa is starting at the hot corner and batting eighth.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Remains out Monday

Devers (back) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The Red Sox are continuing to take a day-by-day approach with Devers, who will be on the bench for a third straight game while he contends with a sore lower back. Per Alex Speier of The Boston Globe, manager Alex Cora mentioned over the weekend that he plans to be careful with Devers' usage on the Tropicana Field turf during the four-game series with Tampa Bay, so if the 25-year-old returns to the lineup in the next few days, it may be as a designated hitter.
