  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Taking seat Saturday

Jeffers is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Christian Vazquez will step in behind the plate to catch for starting pitcher Zebby Matthews. Jeffers has enjoyed a productive month with a .926 OPS and five homers, and for the season he's been a top-10 fantasy catcher.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Launches 23rd homer Friday

Langeliers went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in a win over the Rangers on Friday.

The Athletics' offense remained hot Friday, and Langeliers produced one of four multi-hit efforts. The power-hitting backstop snapped a 12-game homerless drought with the ninth-inning round tripper, and the pair of RBI it produced were only his second and third since he drove in four during a 4-for-5 performance against the Mets on Aug. 13.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Homers in win

Wong went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI in Friday's 7-5 extra-inning win over Detroit.

Wong doubled a run home in the fourth inning and then increased Boston's lead with a homer in the sixth. He'd gone eight games without an RBI and 11 without a home run. The catcher's unsustainable BABIP from earlier in the season has caught up to him in the second half, but Wong continues to be a clutch hitter for the Red Sox, posting a .309 average with runners in scoring position.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Slugs pair of two-run homers

Wells went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's 6-3 victory over St. Louis.

The Yankees backstop extended his team's lead to 4-2 when he launched a 399-foot, two-run homer off Erick Fedde in the third inning. Wells later cracked another two-run homer in the eighth inning, launching it 413 feet off reliever Riley O'Brien to secure his first career multi-homer game. The 25-year-old has been one of the hottest catchers in the league coming out of the All-Star break, hitting .318 (35-for-110) with six homers, 22 RBI and 11 runs scored across his last 32 games.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Resting Friday

Rutschman is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies.

Rutschman had started each of the Orioles' last eight games (six at catcher, two at DH) but will get the night off Friday. James McCann will fill in behind the dish while Eloy Jimenez handles DH.

  • Jonah Heim C | TEX

    Rangers' Jonah Heim: Resting Friday

Heim is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Heim had started each of the Rangers last five games against a left-handed pitcher, but he'll yield to Carson Kelly against JP Sears on Friday. Heim had caught three of the Rangers last four games, going 2-for-14 during that span.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: On bench against LHP

Naylor is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates.

With lefty Bailey Falter taking the mound for Pittsburgh, the lefty-hitting Naylor will retreat to the bench. Austin Hedges will bat ninth and fill in for Naylor behind the dish.

  • Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Idle Friday

Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego.

With left-hander Martin Perez on the mound for the Padres, Rortvedt will yield to Alex Jackson behind the dish. Rortvedt has one hit in his last 23 at-bats.

  • Kyle McCann C | OAK

Athletics' Kyle McCann: Draws rare start Thursday

McCann went 1-for-5 in a loss to the Reds on Thursday.

Shea Langeliers got a rare day off Thursday, affording McCann his first start since Aug. 21. The rookie backstop collected his first hit since July 28, but he also struck out three times. McCann has a .254/.338/.390 slash line across 133 plate appearances this season.

  • Brian Serven C | TOR

Blue Jays' Brian Serven: Two doubles Thursday

Serven went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Red Sox.

The backstop scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the third inning as he guided Bowden Francis and the bullpen to a 2-0 victory. Serven is emerging as Francis' personal catcher, working with him in each of the right-hander's last three starts, and it's hard to argue with the results -- Francis has a 0.41 ERA, 0.36 WHIP and 24:3 K:BB over 22 innings in those outings. Serven's been adding a little offense as well, batting .280 (7-for-25) in August with three doubles, three RBI and three runs over 10 games.
