Kevin Plawecki C | TEX
Rangers' Kevin Plawecki: Makes first start with new team
Plawecki started at catcher and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians.
Plawecki, who was signed by the Rangers this week after being DFA'd by Boston, delivered a two-out RBI in his first at-bat with the team. He joins a three-man catching crew, along with Jonah Heim and Sam Huff, that should finish out the season.

Cal Raleigh C | SEA
Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Blasts 24th homer
Raleigh went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two strikeouts in a 5-1 loss to the Royals on Friday.
Raleigh's performance at the plate was a microcosm of his entire season: plenty of strikeouts combined with above-average power. The 25-year-old catcher has the second-most home runs hit from the position this year behind only Daulton Varsho. However, he also came into Friday night's game with an awful strikeout rate of 28.8%.

Adley Rutschman C | BAL
Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Homers, swipes bag
Rutschman went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 6-0 win over Houston.
Rutschman was all over Friday's box score, including his solo home run in the fourth inning to open the game's scoring. He later stole his fourth bag of the year in the sixth before doubling in a run and scoring in the seventh. Rutschman improved his season slash line to .258/.365/.454 with 45 extra-base hits and 64 runs scored through 102 games. Since the All-Star break, he's hitting .287 with an impressive 41:41 BB:K.

Thaiss isn't starting Friday against the Twins.
Thaiss has gone 0-for-15 with a run, a stolen base, four walks and nine strikeouts over his last six games and will be on the bench for the third time in the last four matchups. Max Stassi is starting behind the dish and batting eighth.

Austin Hedges C | CLE
Guardians' Austin Hedges: Not in Friday's lineup
Hedges is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.
Hedges is 0-for-22 since Sept. 12 and will take a seat after he started the past three games. Luke Maile will start behind the plate and bat eighth Friday.
-
Jonah Heim C | ATH
Rangers' Jonah Heim: Steps out of lineup
Heim is not in the lineup Friday against the Guardians.
The 27-year-old and Sam Huff have alternated starts behind the plate for Texas, but Kevin Plawecki, who signed with the Rangers on Thursday, will make his team debut Friday at catcher. Heim has struggled through 14 games in September with a .174/.224/.304 slash line.

Francisco Mejia C | TB
Rays' Francisco Mejia: Not starting Friday
Mejia isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Mejia will hand off catching duties to Christian Bethancourt, who will bat seventh as the two backstops continue to alternate starts.

Shea Langeliers C | ATH
Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Multi-hit effort in loss
Langeliers went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a loss to the Mariners on Thursday.
The rookie's third-inning two-bagger plated Stephen Vogt to snap a 3-3 tie. Langeliers has been enjoying regular playing time behind the dish and at designated hitter but is still struggling to make consistent contact against big-league arms -- he's struck out at a massive 41.4 percent clip over 16 games during the month, and Thursday's multi-hit effort was his first since Sept. 1.
