Fermin went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 6-4 loss to the Guardians in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Fermin went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter in the day game before spelling Salvador Perez behind the dish in the nightcap. While Fermin has carved out a decent share of playing time in July, he has gone just 4-for-23 (.174) with seven strikeouts over his last 10 games. Overall, the catcher is slashing .262/.315/.350 with three homers, 10 RBI, 16 runs scored, seven doubles and no stolen bases across 198 plate appearances this year.

Langeliers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Astros.
Langeliers smacked a home run for a second straight game, as he took Bennett Sousa deep to left-center field for a solo shot in the sixth. The 27-year-old backstop has been hot at the plate since the All-Star break, logging at least one hit in eight of his nine games and going 14-for-35 (.400) with four home runs and 10 RBI over that span.

Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Being evaluated for concussion
Kirk is undergoing tests to determine if he has a concussion after he took a foul tip off his mask Saturday versus Detroit, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Kirk initially remained behind the plate after being dinged by the foul tip, but he was pulled for a pinch hitter in the following frame. Should Kirk need to miss any games moving forward, Tyler Heineman figures to step in as Toronto's starting backstop.

Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Exits early Saturday
Kirk (undisclosed) was removed from Saturday's game against Detroit after taking a foul tip off his mask in the third inning, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Kirk initially remained in the game on defense after taking the foul tip, but he was removed for a pinch hitter in the following frame. The Blue Jays will presumably provide an update on the reason for Kirk's removal during or shortly after Saturday's contest. Tyler Heineman stepped behind the plate for the Blue Jays and would likely take over as the team's primary backstop if Kirk needs to miss additional time.

Naylor isn't in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Royals.
After going 1-for-3 with two RBI during a loss in Game 1, Naylor will rest his legs during the final game of the day. Austin Hedges will replace him behind the plate and bat ninth.

Astros' Victor Caratini: Getting breather Saturday
Caratini isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.
Although he owns a .999 OPS through 35 plate appearances against southpaws this season, Caratini will step out of the starting nine Saturday with left-hander Jacob Lopez on the mound for the A's. Jose Altuve will assume the role of DH while Caratini rests, opening up left field for Cooper Hummel.

Rangers' Kyle Higashioka: Still out Saturday
Higashioka (hamstring) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.
Saturday marks the third consecutive start Higashioka will miss since he strained his hamstring during Tuesday's contest. Manager Bruce Bochy previously said he was hopeful the 35-year-old catcher could avoid a trip to the injured list, though that may change if his absence extends another couple of games. Jonah Heim will draw another start behind the plate and bat ninth Saturday.

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Away on paternity leave
The Twins placed Jeffers on the paternity list Saturday.
Jeffers will be permitted to miss up to three games while he welcomes a new addition to his family. Christian Vazquez figures to start behind the dish while Jeffers is away, and Mickey Gasper will come up from Triple-A to provide a bit of insurance at catcher.

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Logs first extra-base hit
Wong went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers.
One month after logging his first RBI of the season, Wong recorded his first extra-base hit. He led off the third with a double off the wall in left and scored Boston's first run. Wong's slashing .151/.231/.161 over 37 games. Per Sean McAdam of MassLive.com, the Red Sox have some interest in adding a catcher at the trade deadline as a Wong replacement. Wong was Boston's catching leader the last two seasons but lost the job to Carlos Narvaez early in 2025 when he landed on the injured list with a finger injury.
