  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

    Twins' Mitch Garver: Still sidelined

Garver (heel) remains on the bench for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Garver left Thursday's game with left heel soreness and hasn't started since. Jason Castro starts behind the plate in his absence.

  • Indians' Roberto Perez: Sitting Sunday

Perez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Perez owns an excellent .306/.375/.714 slash line in the month of June. He'll sit in favor of Kevin Plawecki on Sunday.

  • Zack Collins C | CLE

White Sox's Zack Collins: Starts at catcher

Collins went 0-for-4 in Saturday's 6-5 loss to Texas.

Collins made his first MLB start as a catcher Saturday and made a couple of nice tag plays at the plate. While he's up with the White Sox as a replacement for Welington Castillo (oblique), he'll catch a couple of games per week while also seeing time at designated hitter and possibly first base.

  • James McCann C | ARI

White Sox's James McCann: Getting Saturday off

McCann is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

After starting each of the past 12 games at catcher or designated hitter, McCann will get a well-deserved breather. Zack Collins will pick up his first career start behind the dish as a result, working in a battery with Odrisamer Despaigne.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Picks up rest

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

He'll just be getting a routine rest day while Austin Romine checks in behind the dish. Though Sanchez has frequently served as a designated hitter on days that he's not catching, his opportunities to stick in the lineup as a DH should dwindle after the acquisition of Edwin Encarnacion last weekend.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: On bench Saturday

Jansen is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

Jansen continues to share time behind the dish with Luke Maile, who will draw the nod Saturday. Neither backstop has done much to separate himself in the job battle lately; Jansen has turned in a .508 OPS in June while Maile sports a .572 mark.

  • Rays' Anthony Bemboom: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Rays transferred Bemboom (knee) to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Bemboom was shut down in mid-May with the left knee sprain, so his move to 60-day IL means he'll be sidelined through the All-Star break. The backstop had been scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at High-A Charlotte this weekend, and the transaction hints that he'll likely be kept in the minors for the maximum 20 days or close to it. In any case, Bemboom isn't expected to serve as anything more than a backup catcher for the Rays whenever he's formally reinstated.

  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Won't start Saturday

Garver (heel) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Garver will sit for the second consecutive day while he continues to battle a sore left heel, which he sustained in Thursday's series opener. Willians Astudillo will draw the start behind the dish and bat fifth Saturday.

  • Royals' Martin Maldonado: Gets day off

Maldonado is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Maldonado will receive a breather for the day game after catching all nine innings and going 1-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 8-7 loss. He'll put his five-game hitting streak on hold while Cam Gallagher receives a turn behind the dish.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Plays hero vs. Blue Jays

Vazquez went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Friday's win over Toronto.

Vazquez slugged a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning, sending his team home happy. He didn't start Friday's contest, but he took over behind the dish in the late innings and ended up making a big impact. Vazquez is slashing .292/.330/.480 with nine homers and 27 RBI over 61 games this season.
