Fortes (quadricep) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Fortes will miss a second straight start after exiting Monday's 10-3 loss with a tight quad. He was available off the bench Tuesday and presumably will be again Wednesday. Ali Sanchez will draw another start at catcher for the Marlins.

Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Mets.
Diaz delivered a pair of RBI knocks and tallied his first multi-hit game since July 10. He's appeared in 14 games since that date and has hit just .159 with three RBI and three runs scored. Diaz is still batting .275 for the season while lowering his strikeout rate to 18.3 percent.

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Resting up Wednesday
Amaya is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.
Amaya had started at catcher each of the past four days, so he'll be getting a breather Wednesday while the Cubs and Twins wrap up their series with an afternoon game after a night game. Christian Bethancourt will step in behind the plate in place of Amaya, who has gone 2-for-14 with a home run and a walk through his first five games this month.

Brewers' William Contreras: Drives in four against Atlanta
Contreras went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, a triple, two runs scored and four RBI in Tuesday's 10-0 rout of Atlanta.
It's the first time Contreras has banged out multiple extra-base hits in a game since July 1, when he went 3-for-5 with a double and a homer at Coors Field, and his first game with multiple RBI since July 10. The 26-year-old catcher is slashing .259/.385/.563 in 15 games since the All-Star break with a home run, five runs and eight RBI along with an 11:11 BB:K.

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Homer, three hits in win
Ruiz went 3-for-5 with a home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 11-5 win over the Giants.
Ruiz hit a solo homer in the third inning, singled in the fourth and then doubled and scored in the eighth. He is off to a hot start in August, going 8-for-20 and registering a hit in five straight contests. On the year, the 26-year-old is hitting .228 with nine home runs, 37 RBI and 32 runs scored across 324 plate appearances.

Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Blasts 14th homer
Stephenson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Marlins.
Stephenson got the scoring started Tuesday with a 418-foot blast off Max Meyer to lead off the second inning. It's the 14th long ball of the year for the 27-year-old backstop, setting a new career high. Stephenson's gone 9-for-27 (.333) with three homers in his last eight games. He's slashing .243/.320/.443 through 337 plate appearances this season with 42 RBI and 46 runs scored across 337 plate appearances.

Padres' Kyle Higashioka: On bench Tuesday
Higashioka is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Higashioka and Luis Campusano have been alternating starts at catcher over the last six games, with each receiving three starts. Higashioka has a career-high 13 homers this season and an .800 OPS across 164 plate appearances.

Fortes is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds due to quadriceps tightness but will be available off the bench, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Fortes departed Monday's contest due to the injury and was limited to running at 75 percent Tuesday. It remains to be seen if a stint on the injured list will be necessary. Ali Sanchez is working behind the plate and batting ninth.
