  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Not starting nightcap

    Stephenson went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts during the Reds' Game 1 loss, and he'll catch a breather to end the day. Luke Maile will take over behind the dish and bat ninth.

    Alvarez isn't in the Mets' lineup Sunday against Atlanta.

    Alvarez is 1-for-8 with a double during New York's current series against Atlanta, and he'll take a seat for Sunday's finale. Omar Narvaez will take over behind the plate and bat sixth.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Not starting Sunday

    Moreno, who was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday, is not in the lineup against the Padres.

    He will be eased back as a reserve, but Moreno should get the bulk of the starts at catcher over the rest of the season, with Jose Herrera serving as his backup. Carson Kelly was designated for assignment earlier in the day.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Activated Sunday

    Moreno (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday's game against the Padres.

    Moreno hit .444 with two doubles in three rehab games and is ready to rejoin the fray. Carson Kelly was designated for assignment, so Jose Herrera will be Moreno's backup going forward.

    Cubs' Yan Gomes: Out of Sunday's lineup

    Gomes is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays.

    Gomes heads to bench after starting the last two games. He has gone 1-for-7 with a double in that stretch. Miguel Amaya will get the start at catcher and bat ninth Sunday.

    Realmuto is not in Sunday's lineup against the Twins.

    Realmuto is hitting .313 with three home runs, six runs and six RBI over his last 10 games. Garrett Stubbs will start at catcher and bat eighth.

    Dodgers' Will Smith: Mashes 15th homer

    Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Rockies.

    Smith saw a seven-game hitting streak end Thursday versus the Rockies, but he snapped out of a quiet spell with his game-tying blast in the first inning Saturday. The catcher is up to 15 long balls on the season, two of which have come in August. For the season, he's added 59 RBI, 60 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .275/.381/.471 slash line over 91 contests.

    Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Clubs walk-off homer

    Ruiz went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Oakland.

    After failing to reach safely in any of his first four at-bats, Ruiz led off the bottom of the ninth and delivered a game-winning solo homer off Lucas Erceg on the first pitch of the frame. The long ball was Ruiz's 13th of the campaign and marked his second in as many games. The backstop is batting 11-for-30 (.367) with five RBI and six runs scored in his last eight appearances.

    Braves' Sean Murphy: Sitting out nightcap

    Murphy isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets.

    Murphy went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored during a 21-3 rout in Game 1, and he'll get a breather for the nightcap. Travis d'Arnaud will take over behind the plate and bat fifth.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

    Padres' Gary Sanchez: Sitting Saturday

    Sanchez isn't in the Padres' lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

    Sanchez has been alternating starts with Luis Campusano since Monday, and Saturday will mark Campusano's turn to start behind the dish. Sanchez is 6-for-22 with three home runs since the start of August.
