Fortes is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Fortes will take a seat after he started in three of the past four games -- twice at catcher and once at designated hitter -- while going 2-for-12 with a solo home run and a walk. Jacob Stallings is behind the plate Monday, while Garrett Cooper is serving as the Marlins' DH.

Alvarez hasn't played for Triple-A Syracuse since Tuesday due to a right ankle injury and could be at risk of missing the rest of the 2022 season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The 20-year-old is scheduled to undergo testing in New York in the coming days, but the Mets fear the backstop may need surgery, according to Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.

Even if Alvarez is able to avoid surgery and makes his return to the Triple-A lineup at some point before season's end, the time missed due to injury could be enough to take him out of consideration for a promotion to the big club in September ahead of a potential playoff push. The Mets have gotten limited offensive production this season from their top two backstops (Tomas Nido and James McCann), and Alvarez -- who has produced a .715 OPS as the youngest player at Triple-A since his early July promotion from Double-A Binghamton -- might have offered an upgrade. At this stage, however, the Mets' top priority is likely ensuring Alvarez is fully healthy for spring training, at which point he could have a chance at earning a spot on the Opening Day roster.

D'Arnaud went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.

D'Arnaud's three-run blast off Jordan Montgomery -- his 14th long ball of the season -- broke a 0-0 stalemate in the fourth inning. The hot hitting of both d'Arnaud and William Contreras in recent games has prompted manager Brian Snitker to clear regular room in the lineup for the two backstops, with Eddie Rosario and Marcell Ozuna losing out on starts out of the designated-hitter spot as a result. Contreras will serve as the team's DH for a third consecutive game in Sunday's series finale, while d'Arnaud starts behind the plate and bats cleanup.

Bart is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Bart is receiving some routine maintenance after going 3-for-10 with a double and a walk while catching in each of the Giants' last three contests. Austin Wynns will replace him behind the plate Sunday, batting eighth.

Caratini is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Caratini went 2-for-12 with a run scored while starting in each of the Brewers' last three games, all of which came with left-handed pitchers taking the hill for the opposition. The lefty-hitting Omar Narvaez will step back in behind the plate Sunday against Cubs righty Adrian Sampson, so the switch-hitting Caratini looks like he'll fill a short-side platoon role moving forward.

Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Contreras looks to be healthy again after a recent four-game absence due to an ankle sprain, but he'll give way to Yan Gomes behind the dish for the series finale in Milwaukee. After returning from the injury Friday, Contreras picked up two straight starts at catcher and went 0-for-8 with five strikeouts.

Nola is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Nola is locked in as the Friars' clear No. 1 backstop after Jorge Alfaro (knee) was placed on the injured list Friday, but the 32-year-old will get a breather for the series finale. Luis Campusano will step in behind the dish Sunday after Nola went 3-for-7 with a walk, a run and an RBI while starting at cacher in the first two games of the series.

Heineman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Heineman and Jason Delay have now alternated turns behind the plate in each of the past 10 games, with the two backstops drawing five starts apiece. Expect the timeshare to remain in place unless of one of the two catchers clearly separates himself from the other from a performance standpoint.

Nido is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Nido is on the bench for the series finale, but after starting in three of the Mets' last four games following his return from the COVID-19-related injured list, he may have overtaken James McCann as the team's No. 1 backstop. For the season, Nido has produced a lowly .221/.266/.261 line across 249 plate appearances, but the Mets put a lot of value on the work he does defensively.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Diaz will get a breather in the series finale after catching in the previous two contests while going 1-for-8 with a double and three RBI. Brian Serven will spell Diaz behind the plate Sunday.
