Davis was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.

The catcher appeared in two games in the majors after having his contract purchased by Pittsburgh on Sept. 20. He went 2-for-5 with a walk in those contests. Jacob Stallings was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday following a concussion that caused him to miss over a week of action.

Stallings was reinstated from the 7-day concussion injured list Tuesday, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The 31-year-old spent just over a week on the injured list but has been participating in baseball activities since last week. Taylor Davis was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room on the active roster, and Stallings will take over as the primary catcher for the final few games of the regular season.

Contreras isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Pirates due to wrist soreness, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Although Austin Romine is starting at catcher in Contreras' place Tuesday, the injury isn't considered serious. Manager David Ross said Tuesday that he's hopeful Contreras will be able to return to action Wednesday.

Contreras isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

Contreras started the last two games for Chicago and went 3-for-8 with a double, two runs, two RBI and a walk during that time. Austin Romine will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

McCann will sit for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Marlins.

McCann unsurprisingly won't be asked to start two games on one day. Tomas Nido starts the afternoon game, but McCann will likely catch for Noah Syndergaard in the nightcap.

Perez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.

Perez looks set to finish the season as the Pirates' No. 1 backstop while Jacob Stallings (concussion) remains on the 7-day injured list, but Taylor Davis will handle catching duties Monday while Perez gets a breather. Since Stallings was deactivated a week ago, Perez went 3-for-18 with two walks, three RBI and a run over five games.

Stephenson went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and three RBI in Sunday's 9-2 win over Washington.

Stephenson put the Reds on the board with his two-run shot in the fifth inning and later brought home another run with a sacrifice fly. He's up to 10 homers and 44 RBI alongside a .798 OPS this season. Stephenson entered Sunday's game in a 29-game drought without a home run, going 16-for-69 (.232) during that span.

Smith will sit Sunday against Arizona, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Smith sits after starting five of the last six games. Austin Barnes takes over behind the plate, catching for Julio Urias.

McCann will sit Sunday against the Brewers.

McCann has hit .148/.219/.148 over his last 10 games, dragging his OPS for the season down to .647. Tomas Nido takes over behind the plate, catching for Carlos Carrasco.

Diaz is out of the lineup Sunday against the Giants.

Diaz started the past two games and went 2-for-4 in each contest, and he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale. Dom Nunez will work behind the plate in his place, catching for Antonio Senzatela.
