  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Not in Friday's lineup

Diaz is out of the lineup Friday against Atlanta.

Diaz went 0-for-3 with a run and a strikeout Thursday and will take a seat for Friday's contest. Dom Nunez will work behind the plate for Colorado.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Takes seat Friday

Barnhart isn't starting Friday's game against the Tigers, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Barnhart has hit .300 with three doubles, a home run and seven RBI in his last 10 games. Tyler Stephenson is catching and batting second Friday.

  • Pirates' Jacob Stallings: On bench Friday

Stallings is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Stallings went 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts Thursday night and is now hitting .306 with a double and three RBI in his last 10 games. Michael Perez is catching and batting sixth Friday afternoon.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Enjoying strong season in Triple-A

Campusano is slashing .295/.365/.541 with 15 home runs and 45 RBI through 81 games with Triple-A El Paso.

The backstop struggled during his time with the Padres earlier in the campaign, going 3-for-34 with a 28.9 percent strikeout rate. However, he's thrived in his first stint at the Triple-A level and just completed a superb August during which he slashed .373/.458/.765 with six homers and 13 RBI across 15 contests. Campusano was the California League co-MVP in 2019 and remains firmly embedded as one of the organization's top hitting prospects. He's unlikely to make much of an impact at the big-league level this season with Austin Nola and Victor Caratini holding down catcher duties while the Padres fight for a playoff spot, but Campusano could have a future as the team's top backstop.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Not in Thursday's lineup

D'Arnaud is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

As was the case last time d'Arnaud started three games in a row, he will not be in the lineup the following day. Stephen Vogt will get the nod behind the dish Thursday night.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Mets' James McCann: Could return this weekend

McCann (back) could be reinstated from the 10-day injured list during the Mets' weekend series in Washington, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

McCann has been unavailable since Aug. 17 due to lower-back spasms, but he's making progress in his recovery. Manager Luis Rojas said Thursday that the catcher still needs to get through a running progression before he's cleared to return, but it appears as though he's nearly ready to be activated. Patrick Mazeika should continue to handle primary catching duties until McCann is reinstated from the 10-day IL.

  • Alex Jackson C | MIN

Marlins' Alex Jackson: Retreats to bench

Jackson isn't starting Thursday's game against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Jackson will be excluded from the starting nine for a third straight game while Jorge Alfaro catches right-hander Sandy Alcantara. The 25-year-old has gone 1-for-7 with a walk and two strikeouts across his last three appearances.

  • Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Swats sixth homer

Barnes went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a 4-3 win over Atlanta on Wednesday.

Barnes gave primary catcher Will Smith a breather and contributed to the win with a third-inning solo shot to left field. The long ball was his second in his past three games and sixth overall this season. Though Barnes and Smith opened the campaign in a semi-timeshare, the latter's offensive performance -- Smith leads all NL catchers with 22 homers -- has propelled him to a clear-cut role as the team's top option behind the plate. Barnes has tallied 195 plate appearances this season to Smith's 414.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: On bench Thursday

Narvaez isn't starting Thursday's game against the Giants.

Narvaez started each of the last four games and went 4-for-17 with three runs and three RBI. Luke Maile will start at catcher and bat eighth.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Starting at first base

Realmuto (ankle/shoulder) will bat cleanup and play first base Thursday against the Nationals.

Realmuto has started just one of the Phillies' last four games while battling ankle and shoulder issues, and he had to leave that start early. He's advanced to the point where the Phillies are comfortable getting his bat back in the lineup, but he's not yet ready to catch. He should spend a fair amount of time at first base down the stretch with Rhys Hoskins out for the year with an abdominal injury.
