Red Sox's Connor Wong: Losing work to McGuire

Wong is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Wong will take a seat for the third time in four games and may be the Red Sox's No. 2 catcher behind Reese McGuire at this point. Upon joining Boston as a Sept. 1 call-up from Triple-A Worcester, Wong went 3-for-12 with two extra-base hits and three walks in his first six games with Boston, but he's since slashed .200/.200/.267 with a 62.5 percent strikeout rate over his subsequent 10 contests.

  • Elias Diaz C | TEX

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Three hits, scores twice

Diaz went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI on Sunday against the Padres.

Diaz tallied his 15th double before coming around to score in the first inning, and he also chipped in an RBI single in the eighth frame. It was his first multi-hit performance since Sept. 9, a span of seven starts during which he hit only .138. Diaz is now hitting .234/.289/.383 line across 357 plate appearances on the season.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Doubles in third straight

Langeliers went 1-for-4 with a double in a loss to the Mets on Sunday, his third straight game with a two-bagger.

The rookie filled in at DH on Sunday and continued to put good wood on the ball after also belting doubles Thursday and Saturday. Langeliers' .211/.233/.386 slash line over his first 120 big-league plate appearances leaves plenty to be desired, but he's now laced 13 of his 24 hits for extra bases.

  • Astros' Christian Vazquez: Drives in two runs

Vazquez went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 6-3 win over Baltimore.

It was his second multi-hit game of the month and he's now hitting .143 with three RBI through 12 September appearances. On the year, Vazquez is slashing .274/.316/.394 with 50 RBI and 30 extra-base hits through 113 games.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Departs with thumb issue

Raleigh was removed from Sunday's loss to the Royals after aggravating his thumb injury while catching, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Raleigh recently missed four games due to his thumb injury, and the thumb was hit while catching in the bottom of the sixth inning. Manager Scott Servais said that the catcher was OK during strength tests on the field and wanted to stay in, but the team ultimately replaced him in the top of the seventh inning. He should tentatively be considered day-to-day ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Rangers.

Padres' Austin Nola: Out of Sunday's lineup

Nola is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Nola went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored Saturday in Colorado, and he'll head to the bench for Sunday's series finale. Luis Campusano will take over behind the plate and bat eighth.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Sitting against southpaw

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Reds.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Laces homer, triple

Smith went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a triple during Saturday's 6-2 victory over St. Louis.

Smith opened the scoring with a solo home run off St. Louis starter Jordan Montgomery in the first inning before adding his third triple of the season in the third. The multi-hit game was the 27-year-old's third in his last four games and he's batting 7-for-16 with a home run and two triples during the current hot streak. Smith's .257 average across 19 September contests represents one of his lowest marks of any month this season, but his .529 slugging is his second-best thanks to half of his 18 hits going for extra bases.
