  • Seby Zavala C | LAD

White Sox's Seby Zavala: Seeing more work behind plate

Zavala is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Though he'll take a seat in favor of Reese McGuire for the series finale, Zavala may be manager Tony La Russa's preferred backstop at the moment. Zavala started at catcher in each of the White Sox's past three games -- two against right-handed pitchers, one against a lefty -- and went a combined 5-for-12 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two additional runs.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Not starting Sunday

Maldonado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Maldonado started the past three games and will receive a day off after going 2-for-9 with a home run, a double and three RBI. Jason Castro will work behind the plate in Sunday's series finale.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Twins' Gary Sanchez: Blasts eighth homer Saturday

Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks and two RBI in Saturday's 11-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

The home run was Sanchez's second of June and his eighth overall of the season, placing him in a tie for fifth place among all MLB catchers. He'll be behind the plate in Sunday's series finale in Arizona, batting seventh.

  • Brian Serven C | ATH

    Rockies' Brian Serven: Resting Sunday

Serven is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Elias Diaz will receive a turn behind the dish after Serven caught in five of the Rockies' previous six contests. Serven went 7-for-16 with two extra-base hits and three walks during that stretch to boost his season OPS to .923. So long as he's wielding a hot bat, Serven should continue to play regularly over Diaz.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Out of Sunday's lineup

Jeffers is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Arizona, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Jeffers has a .876 OPS over his past six games and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale versus Minnesota. Gary Sanchez will work behind the plate while Jose Miranda serves as the designated hitter.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

Tigers' Eric Haase: Starting again Sunday

Haase is serving as the designated hitter and batting seventh in Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Haase went 3-for-5 with a double, a three-run home run and three total runs scored in Saturday's contest, so the Tigers will roll with him again Sunday. The 29-year-old has been playing well this month, with a .333/.357/.630 slash line, a home run, four RBI and seven runs scored across nine June games.

  • Athletics' Christian Bethancourt: Not starting Sunday

Bethancourt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bethancourt is 1-for-14 with nine strikeouts over his past four games and will receive a day off to reset in the series finale versus Kansas City. Seth Brown will move to first base while Cristian Pache starts in the outfield.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Takes seat against lefty

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

The lefty-hitting Narvaez will retreat to the bench for the series finale, allowing Victor Caratini to pick up a turn behind the plate while southpaw Mike Minor takes the hill for the Reds. Narvaez went 1-for-12 with a walk, two RBI and a run while starting in each of the Brewers' past three games.

  • Pirates' Tyler Heineman: Hits bench Sunday

Heineman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Heineman started in each of the Pirates' last three games, going 0-for-9 with a walk and a run scored. Michael Perez will spell Heineman behind the dish in the series finale.

  • Curt Casali C | ATL

    Giants' Curt Casali: Resting Sunday

Casali is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Casali returned to the lineup Wednesday after missing the Giants' previous three games due to a hamstring injury, and manager Gabe Kapler isn't yet comfortable letting the backstop play on consecutive days. Austin Wynns will thus pick up a start behind the plate in the series finale after Casali went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and a run while catching in Saturday's 7-5 win.
