Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Blasts sixth homer

Narvaez went 3-for-4 with a home run and three total runs scored in Saturday's 7-5 win over Arizona.

The catcher singled in the fourth and sixth innings, and scored both times. In the eighth, Narvaez added his sixth homer of the season. He's gone yard in each of the last two games while adding three RBI and six runs scored as he feasts on Arizona pitching. For the season, the 29-year-old is slashing a strong .317/.400/.516 across 145 plate appearances.

  • Austin Nola C | COL

Padres' Austin Nola: Trending toward late June

Nola (knee) isn't expected to return from the injured list until late June or early July, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Nola has gotten into just 18 games this season, as he missed most of April with a broken finger before spraining his knee in late May. The Padres previously said he needed a week or two before he's cleared to return, but it now looks like he'll need at least two or three. Victor Caratini is the primary catcher in his absence.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Mets' James McCann: Not starting Saturday

McCann will hit the bench Saturday against San Diego, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

McCann had been losing his grip on the starting role following a very poor start of the season at the plate, but he's shown signs of life over his last seven games, hitting .385 with three homers. He'll hit the bench after making three straight starts, with Tomas Nido taking over behind the plate.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Athletics' Sean Murphy: Retreats to bench

Murphy isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Murphy had started each of the last five games and hit .250 with a home run, three doubles, seven RBI and two runs. Aramis Garcia will take over at catcher and bat eighth.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

    Dodgers' Will Smith: Sitting Saturday

Smith will sit Saturday against Atlanta, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Smith sits for the second time in three games. Despite preseason indications that he might start no more than 90 games, Smith is currently on pace to make 101 starts behind the plate. Austin Barnes will start in his absence.

  • Braves' William Contreras: Not starting Saturday

Contreras isn't starting Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Contreras drew starts in each of the last two games and went 2-for-8 with four strikeouts. Kevan Smith will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Nationals' Yan Gomes: Remains on bench

Gomes (hamstring) remains on the bench for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

Gomes is battling a tight right hamstring and will sit for the third straight game. Alex Avila remains the starter behind the plate in his absence.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Retreats to bench

Jansen isn't starting Saturday against Houston.

Jansen will take a seat for the third time in the last four games after he went 1-for-3 in Friday's matchup. Reese McGuire will start behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Pirates' Jacob Stallings: Comes through Friday

Stallings went 1-for-3 with a two-run single and a walk in Friday's 9-2 win over Miami.

He's batting just .176 over the last nine games but has six RBI in his last three starts. Stallings, who has hit fourth or fifth in the lineup since Colin Moran (groin) went on the injured list, will likely move down when Moran returns next week. Overall, the catcher is slashing .237/.333/.417 with four homers in 159 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Gets breather Saturday

Stephenson isn't starting Saturday against the Cardinals.

Stephenson will get a breather after he went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a walk Friday. Mike Freeman will start at first base and bat eighth.
