  • Chad Wallach C | ATH

Marlins' Chad Wallach: Resumes baseball activities

Wallach cleared concussion protocol and resumed baseball activities Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Wallach has been on the injured list since May 24 with what was apparently a fairly significant concussion. He should be back in action before too long and could reclaim the backup catcher job from Bryan Holaday.

  • Padres' Francisco Mejia: Headed to majors

Mejia was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Mejia was activated from the 10-day injured list June 1 and was then optioned to Triple-A, though his play while with the Chihuahuas has earned him a promotion, hitting .365 with four homers and 12 RBI over 18 contests. He'll slot in as the backup catcher behind Austin Hedges.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Mariners' Omar Narvaez: Heads to bench

Narvaez is not in the lineup Monday against the Royals, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Narvaez sits for the second game in a row. Tom Murphy remains the starter behind the plate.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Takes seat Monday

Vazquez is not in the lineup Monday against the Twins, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Vazquez will take a seat Monday after catching all 10 innings of Sunday's win over the Orioles, going 2-for-6 with two RBI in the process. Sandy Leon is starting at catcher and hitting ninth in his place.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Sitting out Monday

Jansen is not in the lineup Monday against the Angels.

Jansen will take a seat for Monday's series opener after starting the past two games behind the dish and going 0-for-8 with a pair of strikeouts. In his place, Luke Maile is starting at catcher and hitting ninth.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Remains out Monday

Realmuto (groin) sits for the second straight game Monday against Washington.

Realmuto left Saturday's game against the Braves after taking a foul tip to the groin, and the issue is evidently serious enough for him to miss a second straight contest. Andrew Knapp remains the starter behind the plate.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Out again Monday

Garver is not in the lineup Monday against the Red Sox, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Garver will head to the bench for a second straight game as Jason Castro picks up another start behind the dish in his place Monday. In 10 appearances since returning from the IL, Garver is 10-for-37 (.270) with two homers and nine RBI.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Back on bench

Barnhart is not starting Monday against the Astros.

Barnhart scored a pair of runs Sunday against the Rangers after sitting for the three previous games, but that wasn't enough to keep him in the lineup. Curt Casali gets the call behind the plate.

  • Royals' Martin Maldonado: Ropes three hits

Maldonado went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Twins.

It was a rare offensive outburst for Maldonado as he has just one other three-hit game this season and hadn't scored multiple runs in one outing since August of last season. The 32-year-old catcher's OPS still sits at a lackluster .575 with just nine extra-base hits across 197 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Reaches 25 RBI

Vazquez went 2-for-6 with two RBI in Sunday's victory over Baltimore.

Vazquez tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the 10th inning on a single to center field. He's now hit safely in five straight games, and he's put together a .290/.330/.472 with eight homers and 25 RBI through 59 contests this season.
